Further to my last I saw this stat - supports my idea that we are missing a vital piece to make it connect and start to work.

Again - put this into the context we have played the Champions of the last 3 seasons Away & no other club has played then both as yet, and despite losing both those games the numbers look encouraging to say the least.

EDIT - we are also 5th for touches and 3rd for number of passes, despite those 2 games.

We are a half baked team and we are making decent moves in the market It’s just there’s so much mess left by Wenger and Emery to clean up, and Arteta and Edu haven’t been as ruthless as they could be

Would add Gazidis and Sanlehi to the list.

Villa have shown you don't need to spend big, just well and get the players that fit the requirements.

LFC's recruiting is much the same, but they are not afraid to go big for key players.

I accepted reality a few years ago. There are too many teams who are ahead of us and we no longer have an edge to beat the competition. That only leads to one thing and that's motherfucking pain. I barely watch any of our games now and my life is better for it in all honesty. I've only fallen back in recently because of Covid and the genuine lack of anything else worth doing.

I meant in terms of individual signings - Watkins is their record at under 30m?

If you look at this list it's close to being the current first team squad aged 27 or over.

I don't know how we can expect positive results as long as our senior players are a list of question marks.

There's some selection bias here where we hold the older, more experienced players more responsible, but I'd say it's a thing. Future success looks like being defined in terms of a new generation, and not even now, but after the next contract cycle.

This plan is what we should have pursued aggressively.

TBH I don't think they had much option due to the lack of funds, other than to not bring anyone in at all which in hindsight is perhaps the way we should have gone. That said I don't think the youngsters would have fared any better under the current system.

I find it hard to imagine AMN getting Cedrics minutes, Pepe getting Willians and Nelson getting Pepes would have hurt is in anyway. In fact that sounds like a preferable scenario to me.
