He is slave to his principles. He cannot abide a striker like Nketiah. And neither can I, as most know. His qualities are far too limited for the characteristic way in which Arteta wants and expects his center forwards to operate.
Vlahovic was his original desire, and with the type of players we have recruited recently - physical presence, specialists in their roles, you can tell he has no real use or trust for Nketiah. And he has shown it with how infrequently he brings him on if his hand is not forced by injury, or desperation.
I have no real affection for Eddie but I do think it does a huge disservice to the striker - He could be developing and honing other aspects of his game more suitable to his basic skillet in a different environment, or under a more adaptive coach. Instead he's stuck here trying to be Jesus-lite in a system that doesn't cater to his own proclivities.
And Jesus himself is lite.
