I've had the feeling over the past few days that in Ireland we're in the equivalent of a potential aircraft disaster, flying around burning off fuel, waiting for the emergency services to clear the runways and get in position to deal with whatever happens when the aircraft comes in and tries to land.
I know people involved in the setting up of field hospitals and extended mortuary facilities, in the hope that we'll need neither.
Pretty much in full "lockdown" from midnight tonight, the hope being that the will amongst communities across the island is behind the move and will unite to observe the restrictions.
I feel that the additional measures were needed as the weather has taken a turn for sunny and clocks are going forward- something that usually drives the nation to socialize and party outdoors.
We've a small and compliant enough population to manage this, just hope the direction we're getting is good.
