I love seeing all these headphone conversations. I’ve tried or owned most of the phones discussed above. After all these years, with a drawerful of these things, I keep going back to the Klipsh S4s. Being noise isolating in-war burs, they’re amongst the cheapest of the lot, but they reliably give me great sound across the ranges in comfort, and work in buses and planes without taking up a lot of space. Only time they’re beaten is running when wireless buds are better for freedom and safety but I rarely find that noise canceling over ear phones beat this cheap package for me. In the end, it’s what fits you, your body and your needs. Don’t let the so called audiophiles tell you that you need this headphone and only FLAC files in order to enjoy your music
That's like saying don't let so called gourmets tell you that you shouldn't be eating McDonalds.
FLAC is a format that's useful for storage, it's overkill for listening I agree. There's also nothing wrong about being happy with cheap audio as long as it's working for you but there's nothing right about paying through the nose for overhyped garbage by Monster or Bose. Those Klipsch S4 of yours are a great example of getting it right, even if not the best resolution they're fun to listen to and are very reasonably priced, think they were my first IEMs.
Of course there's a chance to chase after the dragon too far and end up spending too much on genuine quality. When flobs finally becomes a billionaire I will ask him for this golden shot here
