Diawara is actually more talented than the wanyamas of the world, but ultimately he's diet partey. We need to nab the real thing

I feel the same way. Diawara is someone I would have taken a punt on if we didn't already have a ton of promising youngsters. He has huge gifts although you have to wonder why he still hasn't gotten much out of them at the age of 23.

Right now we need players who can move us forward though. That should be the chief concern when we sign anyone. We have future potential. We need players who perform here and now, and we need them to be a bit younger and better than Willian and Coutinho ideally.

He is injury prone that's why. He has missed 15+ league games per season for the last 3-4 campaigns.

This is the Diawara who moved to Roma from Napoli right? Unless he had a full metamorphosis that description seems way off, he was far better distributing the ball than he was off it.

same guy. I found Locatelli more impressive.

at Roma, I would prefer Pellegrini. he likes to get forward, create chances, good movement off the ball, strong, adept with both feet. He would help us with our linking issues.

lots of exciting players in Serie A. you mentioned Zaniolo - he'd compete for place with Pepe unfortunately. another option in that same role is Sassulo's Berardi who has had a remarkable season.

I think there's a reason why Diawara has never shone for Napoli or Roma. Never even started regularly for both.

EDIT - probably doesn't fit if the current intent is to regain top4/UCL next season, but certainly young enough to build towards a title challenge in a few seasons time.
