Seems more of a Xhaka replacement than what we'd look for in Partey.

That's kind of interesting. It's got passing range, technique, hard running, and tough tackling. Better ball carrying than our current options, but not elite. Maybe would allow Pepe/Nelson and co to come further inside with more freedom while the mids split and cover the wings. In any event, would need a real creative spark in the front 3 and Ceballos would have the platform to step up his attacking game.
I could honestly see a

midfield working OK for next season, now that I think of it. That would require we pull of something big at CB, though, otherwise I think it's kind of unacceptable.
