All sorts of rumours about Thomas Partey on Twitter. Would be a top signing if we could pull that one off. Though wouldn't be surprised if we are being used to get him a new deal...

Have to think he will be involved in a Laca swap deal if we're really going for him. I can't see us pulling off a signing under any other circumstances right now.

Klausie, one concern I have with the swap deal is that Atletico have the following forwards (non-winger) on their. books:

Diego Costa (31 years)
Morata
Joao Felix
Saponjic

Adding Laca would be quite the party unless they're moving a couple on and adding a mid

That would make sense, for us and them. Even though he's got a clause in his contract we would need to pay it all upfront to activate against their wishes (think may even have to pay tax on top) so we ideally need to come to some kind of agreement.

Atletico's current forward options have been terrible this season.....So they could do with a top class striker like Laca ;D

You're Aubameyang. You allegedly talked to Barcelona in January. You like to make memes with Lacazette. What would you do if Arsenal said they're trading Laca for Partey and would like to keep you for 250,000 pounds a week?

If we're doing a deal they're agreeing to I don't think the clause is relevant. It's only there because Spanish football uses a kind of "everyone has a price" principle so most players just have some unrealistic clause that works exactly like not having one at all.

@Claude Auba isn't very ambitious of he wouldn't be happy with a Laca Partey trade. Improving the team at the cost of not any longer making memes with his friend. If we're supposed to fear that he wants to leave both because we're not good enough and that he wants to leave because we're improving the team he might as well just go.

We shouldn't really be offering Auba big long term contract. He's 31 in a couple months and he's at that age where he could fall of physically very quickly.

As for what he'd do, he isn't that good that we should look out for his mates but I'd like to think he'd recognize Partey makes us a hell of lot better so would in favour.

Jazzy, crisis is the time to be savvy. I suspect we will be conservative and try to do something that leaves us with one of Aubameyang and Lacazette. Somebody really brave and astute leading Arsenal would flip the script and go after something like Partey and Isak (or something cheaper if the Swede is in play). That would give us two younger players with a ton of ability and value.

Even his dad is discussing it, definitely been contact.

Maybe his dad just wants to get leverage against Madrid. He could be settled there. He's been in Madrid since he was 18.

Ideally we'd get rid of both and sign another top striker. Don't get me wrong I like Auba but this may be his peak value wise and it will only go down imo. However there is a major risk in selling Auba as last two seasons he has delivered one 20+ league goal season and was probably going to get another.

Like you say with a severely depressed market this will present opportunities that would not have been possible otherwise.
