Jorginho is a xhaka alternative, and tbh id rather have him in that dlp role. But xhaka isn't going anywhere and they dont complement eachother which makes it a waste. It also raises the question of edus bias towards brazilian players. If jorginho was another nationality i doubt his name comes up

No one we could have possibly signed this summer puts us within touching distance of the top 4 so let's consolidate under Arteta and take stock of what is needed next summer when the wage bill opens up and there is less uncertainty around COVID impacted revenue streams.

I think the Aouar / Partey double deal puts us in position to challenge for top 4. But that was always contingent on commensurate outgoing business - so selling Torreira, Martinez, Guendouzi, Kolasianc, Mustafi, Holding, etc all at full value. That has not happened. It is a reflection of the number of mediocre players we have that we need to do so many trade-ins to improve our starting line-up without worrying about depth

The Jorginho loan and Partey are likely the emphasis for the remaining window. I don't understand the loan aspect though; the player would go straight back to our rivals knowing us inside out. Think Partey is the one.

No dreams for me; I have never been convinced we'll successfully get Aouar and/or Partey. However, ITKs have got me convinced that we'll make a bid. It could happen - its been tracked all summer without the trigger been blown. I wonder if we wanted to low ball Aouar deal first in order to be able to afford both, and we prioritized the former because of the rarity of the profile(position,quality,price,free run).

I remember when Cazorla was dominating teams week in week out, there was a weird narrative being spun here that he is shit and Ozil is twice the player.
