Release clauses seem to be messing with people's head for some reason. If you have a player worth 20m that doesn't change if you put a 60m clause on him. A clause decides the maximum possible price, nothing else.

Regardless of their valuation both have played significantly more minutes haven't they? And I think Bayern have been sniffing around Willock last summer anyway

And Wenger, Emery, Ljungberg and Arteta have all given him playing time and rate him. It seems like it's mostly fans who don't get that Willock has a lot of potential to tap into. The strides he's been making over the last three years have been very impressive.

Carvajal is 28, in his prime, incredible. I can see why they would want to raise the money and maybe see if they can find another child.

Agree, Claud. Hakimi is not getting in ahead of Carvajal any time soon, and the buy-back clause means they can go back in two or three years if they wish to when the latter starts to slow down a bit.

Great signing for Inter though. Hakimi will suit Conte's system perfectly.

Based on the journos in Spain, Zidane is hugely unconvinced in his defensive capabilities and feels that he is not going displace Carvajal from the starting XI.

More of a system type fit (as Ricky alluded to) and Hakimi is better for a team that plays 3 ATB due to his defensive abilities.

Conte can turn some below average players into good ones (Moses, etc.) at this position. With Hakimi, he may very well live up to the potential you mentioned.

They are also trying to get Tonali as well; would also be a massive signing for them.

Post-COVID financial reality = they need to sell to recover finances & won't be the last to need to do so.
