Guy has been here for a matter of months, how on earth could you come to that conclusion?

I'm not saying Edu is or isn't anything, or Raul for that matter, but some of our fans must have some utterly delusional expectations on achievements and timescales.

I think it’s fair to talk about risks given his history with Kia. But he’s doing long term development, so we need to measure his outputs over years. I think the coach is measured in 12 to 24 month cycles and Edu anything longer than that given that he will be informing the overall strategy and inputs.

The agent story - it’s probably less about being at the mercy of agents and more about leading with a plan and having agents integrate around the plan. Apparently he brought us Gabi, and hes 3 times the talent of nketiah. Even if he's just spent the rest of his time on porn hub premium I'm still happy with his contribution so far.

I'd keep Chambers and convert him to play DM as per his POTY season at Fulham.
I'd sell Holding if we were to buy a starting CB to play alongside Gabriel & have Mari-Saliba as the cover options along with Chambers at #5.

If we're being absolutely ruthless regardless of finances then I'd sell at least one of Pepe/Willian.

I'd also sell PEA if he wanted out, but only if he wanted.

I'd want to prioritise incoming players with hunger who didn't need a big pay packet to convince them to join, and didn't have ego issues. If this meant we 'miss out' on the likes of Aouar/Szoboszlai because of our current position/crisis then so be it. I'd still consider the likes of Buendia, Bissouma & Elise as priorities, let alone if we were going for a youth rebuild.

Just to be clear I'd accept sending them out on loan for the remainder of their contracts, and/or writing them off as we saw with Mykhi and Roma to get him off the wages, and we should have also done with Sokratis.
Let them go to the UAE or China for their last big pay packet/wages = I don't care.

I'd include Pepe for sale based upon his status quo if we're being ruthless, and I don't think Azeez is relevant atm as he's not part of the senior/match day squad outside the UEL.

AMN? I think he’d be a useful utility player who can cover multiple positions and also needed for the HG quota.

I could get behind this rebuild. But it would need a rapid infusion of the requisite quality, especially at striker and central mid. You left out about 20 players. Chew on that.

It's crazy isn't it. I'm happy with that list too - probably would keep Ainsley - seems to be a good Arsenal man and we need some of that still. Don't really know much about Azeez either.

In fact I wouldn't be averse to selling Leno either - he's not indispensable - if we had someone else lined up. I don't think he deserves to be sold either - just don't think he's shown he's in any sort of "must be kept" camp.

We really are shit.

Reading the article with the Southampton DoF I posted elsewhere it brings home we have had no direction or plan for a very long time. Coombs is probably right too - once we get a plan it will take up to 5 years for it to bear fruit.

Got to love how quickly people have turned on Auba. Fans always love to go all scorched earth during a bad run.

Out of the players who actually play regularly or won't be free agents I'd look to sell Xhaka, Elneny, Laca and Willian, possibly Holding too depending on the CB situation. That's about it, obviously guys like Kola are a given. That would mean we'd lose 3 centre mids in the summer though leaving just Partey behind, got some work to do there.

Yes, it is incredible. I don't understand how you can go from lauding someone and celebrating a new contract, to turning them into a hate figure and wanting them gone in the space of 10 games (and that's being generous, some turned on him a while ago) without feeling a sense of embarrassment. It's not normal to change your opinion that quickly on a player.

Crititsm is fine, but there's no nuance. Take a balanced view and chances are you won't have to change your mind every 5 mins.

I think it'd be different if things just weren't coming off for him, so part of it is almost certainly that he isn't chasing after balls as hard as he did last season. Personally I'm much more forgiving of a wasted chance than a run that isn't coming.

If anything, Auba is getting away with more than other players. I'm guilty of that myself, when him and Laca have equally terrible performances you can hear that "Auba isn't getting anything to work with" while Laca never gets that excuse.

Auba has never been part of a long-term plan imo. We bought him too late for that. He was bought in to get us back into the CL because it's easier to initiate a long-term plan from there, but it looks like that plan has failed (and that certainly wasn't Auba's fault).

Yeah, I mean sure he's in terrible form but that seems more like a symptom of our problems than anything else. He's just signed on to finish his career here more or less. I don't doubt his commitment or his ability. This guys has been a goal machine for years, not a hot and cold player really. The fact he's in the shit with everyone else should tell its own story.
