27 year old striker who never scores in a weak league. Sounds like an Arsenal signing.

Says Arsenal to put transfer to Arteta

MA “what the hell are you thinking you bunch of bellends”

We're also being 'linked' to Mertens who is a free agent in the summer - wonder if it means there is some substance to the talk of PEA wanting out in Jan?

If he does go I'd be tempted to not bother replacing him. We'd be unlikley to get an experienced striker better than Laca with our lack of CL and middling budget and we wont get a better prospect than Martinelli.

If he's after Volland its probably for the left wing.

Agree with that. I can't imagine we'd sell Auba in January, but if we do it would be an admission from Arsenal that this season does not matter anymore.

If that's the case I would recall Nketiah and try to give him and Martinelli as much playing time as possible along with Lacazette. Along with next preseason it would give us some form of basis to evaluate where they are at, and then we can decide what needs to be done before the summer window closes.

Spend the money on Upamecano if he’s willing to come and build a solid back line, and get a CM. Agree on bringing back Nketiah. Should be enough firepower. Pépé, Lacazette and Martinelli is a frontline that will score if fed.

Yep I think, obviously, you'd get less goals out of Laca than Auba but he might be able to help the other 2 to get more goals as a bit of a trade off. In an ideal world I'd rather Auba just signed a new deal but failing that its the move I'd make. Agree about Nketiah too, get him back in and see how he does.

My view is we are 10th. Rather than try to muddle something in a desperate pursuit for 4th which is likely to fail anyway, we should use this unique opportunity to reset. Look 2 years out and think what would the ideal Arsenal team competing for the title in the 2021-2022 season look like. And start building it in the January transfer window. We might never get a great opportunity like this where we are mid table, have saleable assets, and a new coach that the fans can get behind. Its an incredible confluence of factors we cannot ignore.

I think that's pretty much the right approach too. This season is a write off as far as top 4 goes so we should start building for next year and beyond.
