Just watching this presser. Mikel's reverence for Arsenal has always been consistent and is there to see today. That is so refreshing in contemporary context where everyone lambasts our name with cliches for clicks and conformity comforts

I hope Arteta adds a bit more compactness and positional play in this team, based on what he's seen Pep do at City.

At the moment the team looks hopeless in those two areas, half the team presses aggressively whilst the CB's sit deep, or the defense and midfield sits deep and the front 4 do a half arsed press. and you can drive a truck through central midfield.

I'd like to see him encourage the defense to move up, and add more pace/ball playing ability in the back line.

Luiz holding chambers Saliba and Leno are allgood enough on teh ball for us to be able to adapt to playing out from the back a lot better

I think it's damn bloody clear he's a gooner through and through and Pep said as much in his press conference today on why he can't stop him.

This thread is basically just a rehash of 2 years ago, the same people getting excited like me about Arteta and the others being skeptical because he has no experience. 18 bloody months wasted under Emery that we will never get back.

Any time we push the defence up we get destroyed because they're all pretty slow.

The right time for hiring Arteta was after Wenger left. People had time then, I don't think they do now.

I agree. Brighton are playing it out from the back well enough with people like Lewis Dunk, Shane Duffy and Dan Burn. I really don't think it's that difficult for any footballer at Premier League level to pass the ball around. You just need a coach that gives you the confidence to do it, and part of that is having the midfielders provide passing options much better than they do at Arsenal.
