We definitely have much more quality in the team than our league position suggests. Nobody can claim that they'd swap our squad for Sheffield's, for example.
I don’t know Sheffield’s team, and quite honestly I don’t care to look at what players they have.
I know our team. This is it:
Mustafi, David Luiz, Holding/Chambers, Maitland Niles/Bellerin in current form, Saka as LB.
Xhaka! is our best midfielder in some people’s estimation.
We can’t get consistently good performances and effort from Mr 350K.
Laca is in extremely poor form, and if you recall I’ve always mentioned he is nothing but a tier B striker. For some reason our coaches prefer a Reiss Nelson who is basically just starting his career to Pepe our record signing.
We basically have only two players who are keeping our boat afloat - Auba and Leno. The rest are varying degrees of shit, who we are just now hoping can get the training necessary to make them into something resembling a unit, and hide the gaping holes in their quality/game.
If you don’t see that and find it worrying then what can I say? shrug Just pray neither of the two gets an injury.
Team chemistry which is not as easy to evaluate or quantify also comes into play, and ours is just trying to get off rock bottom.
Sheffield is ahead of us because they have been better than us. They’ve built a team which may not have the visibility or name recognition that our players have, but I feel like Arsenal are the ones giving many of our players their prestige not the other way around.
