Say what you will, but in a game where we are putting in 44 crosses it is obvious that with the right players we'd be posing more of a threat.

I was surprised we weren't shooting from outside the box. Wonder whether this is by instruction or just lack of confidence.

You need to approach from in front of the box to take a long distance shot. We can’t for two reasons. First, we don’t break with speed often. And, second, when we do our build-ups, we get pushed to the side because our players lack the passing ability, movement and ability to receive on the turn to work the middle.

Watch the pass maps. They teach you a lot about your team. Spurs got very little of the ball. But when they did get it, they funneled it to our right defense with Bellerin and Holding via Son. I think Bergwin received 3 passes. They were showing us our path of least resistance. Son is a floater. He picked his gimps and went to work. These are things we need to think about as we adjust.

These guys stopped playing for wenger and emery. Its no surprise they're going through the motions at times for arteta now. He gives thdm a ridgid structure they don't really enjoy. It let them scalp a few big teams. So they went along with it. But from the start of this season they don't seem that interested. It brings the emery quote to mind ' these players ask for more than they give'.

Emery said the changing room needed xhaka. And arteta has said a few times he needs Luiz to get the players to play with humility.

I don't buy that. The team has been trying hard but the tactics are dirt poor and eventually they are losing confidence and belief, who can blame them. Arteta doesn't exactly strike me as a figure you'd pledge any loyalty to either, he's very hard on the players publicly. He blamed Pepe for the loss a couple of weeks ago, he's saying he needs 6 new first team players and then today he's publicly blaming Partey for going off for the second goal. How is that supposed to get people on board with him? He also rewards Willian, a new player in a position we already had 2 good players available, with a start every week no matter how badly be plays. If Arteta wants loyalty, belief and support from these players he needs to earn it.

Luiz is a massive snake and I always thought he was one of the main reasons they stopped playing for Emery. The day we gave him a new contract I felt we hadn't learned anything.

there's definitely some two faced weasels in there that down tools over god knows what. i think his handling of incidents like pepe's red card, the exclusion of ozil/saliba/sokratis, the yoyo-ing of AMN in and out of the squad, the persistence of playing rubbish like willian - when taken in totality the squad might look at all that and think arteta is a bridge burner and stop playing for him. based on ornsteins recent article, ownership are leaning on binning half of the squad before they bin project arteta. if the results hadn't taken such a precipitous turn, i'd be for that stance, as there's definitely a load of them that need clearing out

Do both. The squad needs an overhaul but I just don't think Arteta is the man to over see a project like that.

I don’t like Aubameyang up top. He’s a man down there. No presence and doesn’t offer this team anything in the role. He can and has scored plenty from out wide, and seems to cope better with using the space between the full back and centre back. I think he needs to go back out there in a 433 and stay high. I’m thinking he needs a game or two out the team, and I’m hoping he’s carrying a slight injury because he just doesn’t look right at all just now.

Lacazette isn’t the answer up top but I think he’s the best we have. He’ll fight and occupy defenders. He’ll also no doubt trip over the ball, pass back to their defenders with a heavy touch or mishit it. But something happens.

I like Nketiah but he doesn’t offer much other than enthusiasm. There’s goals in him if we can create chances, but we don’t then he’s like an excitable puppy running around chasing people. I reckon his best chance of a long term career at Arsenal is if we solidify ourselves as mid-table club.

I honestly doubt the players are instructed "just keep crossing".

We had at least 6 crosses from shooting positions. Even the Bellerin cross to behind Auba prior their second was actually a shooting opportunity.

Arteta said in his post match that the system is working, we are creating enough but we are just not scoring and that he can't do anything about that. And to fix this mess we need to start scoring as we are bringing the ball enough in the box.

And Auba's father posted that chances created stat(we have created the fewest in the PL) and quoted Arteta, posting "if you create chances...". I have a feeling he is very close to losing the players.

I’m confident Aubameyang can play 9. He’s played there so much of his career other than a brief spell at the beginning and some shared time with Lewa. Our poor movement is doing us in. I’ve never seen a team do what we do

we struggle to penetrate because we are so unathletic and blunt, and are pushed to the side
conversely, we offer little to no resistance off the ball. Our opponents have high possession stats and are direct in attack (we have worst possession stats)

It’s an absolute failure in both directions. We need to keep it tight and connected. And move more. The kind of movement Nelson, Pépé, Willock, ESR gave us last week and Partey always gives. You saw the way he just blew past Hojbjerg. Run on and off the ball.

We've had a team where almost everyone is desperate to leave for a long time. Players have break out seasons at new contract time. And only stay if we overpay them. Theirs definitely an issue their. We have players ozil and sok who don't even care if their in the squad. That must ring some alarm bells that this isn't a happy camp. Emery let them pick the captain they were so divided another alarm bell. Then both emery and arteta talk about have to pick xhaka or Luiz to get the teams to play the way they want. Luiz came out when arteta arrived and said it'll take time to get there fitness up as they hadn't been training hard for emery.

Artetas said those things recently. Not when they were busting a gut for him last year. He's also said after thr previous prem game that he'll remember 'who doesn't contribute when things got tough. Anyone can do it when you're winning. ' paraphrased. It's the type of comment you'd only make when you're in a viper den. Thr he came out and said he wanted 5 new players.

Listening to Arsecast and they’re confirming what I wrote yesterday. That Son played last few games on right and moved left today. He/Mourinho targeted Bellerin / Holding. Liabilities

I don’t know about the last few games, but he definitely played on the left throughout most of this season. Either way, he barely had a sniff, his only shot on goal was from 35 yards and it wasn’t because of pace.

You can see Holding telling Bellerin to take the man in the inside, I.e Son. Hector duly covers the inside but then makes a weird run to also cover the run and leave Son free. I’d love to know what he was thinking.
