Very good goal by Liverpool. Mane scores against his former team.

How did no club hire Conte last season when he was sitting at home after being sacked by Chelsea ?

Probably because of his problems with authority.

Sensi is a really good CM.

Semedo is bang average.

Robertson scores to make it 2-0 for Liverpool.

Hopefully our Scottish LB makes a similar impact.

Szboszlai hasn't had much of the ball for Salzburg, but his class is obvious every time he gets it. Reads the play very, very well.

Inter Milan look ten times more organized defensively than Emery's outfit, plus they do this playing out of the back thing 10 times better too.

Some of these Salzburg players are hilariously bad. 😆

These things can absolutely happen, but you can minimise the chances of it happening. Looking back to the West Brom loan season, it was guys like Welbeck, Joel Campbell and Walcott blocking Gnabry from getting the game time, it was guys like Flamini and Coq who were clocking Bennacer from game time. The idea that if you're good enough you'll get a chance just simply isn't true, if there's a more senior player who also needs games he'll get it. Was it the right time to loan Gnabry, to a pragmatist like Pulis no less, after a difficult injury with just two years left on his deal?

On the bright side, we seem to have learned from those mistakes. Guys like Mkhi and Elneny have been shipped out, and perhaps more impressively, we made the difficult decision to let go of Iwobi in order to give the batch of kids we in our locker have a go. We also seem to have a much more thorough and considered loan process, so the chances of us repeating the Gnabry mistake have been drastically reduced. So I'm optimistic.

This.

Our loan team completely fucked up Gnabry. He was really impressive when he started his Arsenal career in the first team. He was one of the Germans featured after Ozil joined and was tearing it up at Swansea in his first few apps. If we look back at the match threads after he did not play much, there were many who were as confused when Ox and Theo keep getting selected ahead of Gnabry after the new year. (Joel Campbell wasn't in the picture tbf, totally different season) That was how highly he was rated.

Nobody can foresee that injury the next entire year but the following year after his failed Brom loan we recalled him in January, we hardly even play him in the reserves let alone first team. There were plenty of nonsensical rumours online about how bad his fitness was and lack of discipline etc that resulted in Pulis not playing him and then the opinion changed to he is a nothing player and won't make it.

There were high hopes of him after his olympics performance, we saw a player in him again but I really can't blame Gnabry for leaving when we can't promise him game time after that difficult spell. We also somewhat got conned by Bayern who made that fucked up deal.

I can agree with Ricky, Wenger lost his way those days. Someone as good as him will never be able to slip through in the past. He is truly a top player now. Gnabry, Malen, JRA, Bennacer, Szczesny. We lost half a team and over 200m worth of talents. Thankfully things seem to be changing now.

well we did the same thing with bielik this summer. hes not shining yet, derby are in a bit of mess, but their fans rate him highly already . im sure he will be a star and his value will rocket

Van Dijk mugged off horribly. 😆

(I'll laugh heartily because it doesn't happen often!)

What a buildup from Inter there. Would have been some goal.

indeed. They got at Barca easily a couple of times in quick succession there. Hope they can keep it up

That's faint praise as we are not very good at playing from the back. That said, against manu, I wasn't complaining as Leno's long kicking was even worse as he seemed to hit Maguire every time. Admittedly that forehead is the size of a landing base but at least kick it to the side every so often.

Inter look a proper team; good balance, well set up and good quality.

just checked to see that Liverpool are playing more or less the same players once again. great for consistency, but how do they keep it up? we should poach their hi-performance team, including their lab.

Watching Pool highlights. Another great delivery by Alexander-Arnold. The Mane goal was a lovely one as well. Mane is their biggest terror.

They already had class centrebacks last season, but I think their new midfield has elevated them a full tier in terms of quality. Just look at Barella tonight, 22 years old and already a complete midfielder. I would kill for a player like him. Sensi has been superb too. Those two were £50 million together plus a few additional millions in add-ons. Italy is the place to buy at the moment.

A shame we didn't go for Ziyech. Could've had leftover $$$ to get a Xhaka replacement as well.

I'm loving how poor Barca are even making Alexis look decent again.

Liverpool are functioning so well as a team that it's just a stroll in the park for each individual player.

Ol' Jurgen has embraced Pep's voodoo with the PEDs for sure, Claud.
