That's a fair observation. But does Ozil neatly occupy that 10 role? For example, Emery seemed to enjoy Ramsey's energy in an advanced role last season. This year, it appears Ceballos will be able to provide creative genius while also applying himself defensively.
Ozil also wants to lead a charmed life to be honest. Take a prior playmaker like Bergkamp. Bergkamp could play as a striker or operate as a trequartisa. Or take a guy like De Bruyne. He can play as a pure playmaker in the 10, fall back to the 8 or play on the wings. There are very few playmakers who are as intractable as Ozil.
