Much like Lacazette, Iterney's improved form has come with having a genuine CAM at #10 who draws defenders and creates space in doing so.
It also makes it easier for Xhaka to find players in space.

That said Tierney's desire and work rate has never been an issue, and he is now thriving in the space he has.

We had Willian as a genuine CAM at #10 too but worked out shit.

Probably because we had Willian at #10.

Would like us to do a G.Bale experiment and try him further forward. Need to see what he can do without spending half his energy going the other way. It might sure things up in midfield enough to not have to play a DM next to Partey. Wenger used to do it all the time against the big teams with Gibbs, Clichy and Eboue and they were trash.

Throw Pepe and Nelson out off the bat. Trash players.

It will be obvious if Auba can be counted soon - if this dip in form is something more serious then a lack of confidence.

Saka can have RW, Martinelli CAM or ST.

Anyway, I'm just saying try him there (cup games maybe) - it might not work and if it doesn't that's fine.

Who should be LB if it works? I just think it's weird to try and shoehorn the only LB we have in the club into a position where we have a lot of depth. Though if Nelson and Pepe are "trash" wingers then I don't think Tierney will be bringing you much joy anyways.

Well Tierney's contributing more from LB then Nelson and Pepe ever have - combined. Wouldn't say it's shoehorning either, since he's already playing high up on the left, it would just be that he can conserve more of his energy for attacking. I'm sure the stats back it up (there were a few floating around yesterday) he's been one of our best attackers this season, and he's a defender

If it works then we have less worries about buying an attacker (not none) and we can find a new top LB which would probably cost half the price of a top winger.

All hypothetical as it's not worth thinking about before giving him a go there.

He's a left back all day long, for me. Understands both sides of the role, a proper throwback player.

He’s playing perfectly well from left back. The only thing we need is a bit more offensive bite from Aubameyang. Or to drop him for Martinelli. What I would like to start seeing more of is the full backs bringing in the opposing wide forwards, so Tierney to Saka and Bellerin to Aubameyang. But certainly on his own flank, there is still lots of scope for his own forward to be more productive.

Tierney at fullback is one of the the things that is working really well on this team. It’s a cornerstone we can build around. It’s really exciting. One of our best transfers in recent times. These young transfers have done well for us - Tierney (25), Gabriel (28), Martinelli (6) plus the Hale End boys.

He's a left back that can run up and down the left side the full 90 mins. That is invaluable in today's football. Frees up the left midfielder to play more centrally.

Agree his battery is a huge advantage for our team. Think he probably became one of our top five players by the end of last season, and has picked back up in about the last 4 weeks. Thats my preface to just throw it out there that I think Bellerin has had the slightly better season to date in my view.

Tierney is a really good player, I think from what I've seen he is potentially limited in his ceiling doesn't quite have that top tier quality ( although he may still develop) but his character and personality can push you very far with the traits he has. A fantastic signing and easily one of my favourite recent players we've picked up.
