#AFC | Unai Emery says Arsenal have been trying to sign some important expensive players for the defence but have not been able to do that.

Reiterates that second choice players (plan b's) haven't really given the club many reasons to sign them.

We are fucked for another season.

Unai Emery to Sky: "We tried to sign some important and expensive players for our defence. When we cannot do that second level players do not give us [the desire to sign that]. We are going to try to sign a centre-back."

Guys, Kia Joorabchian is fooling around with Lequipe by feeding them info about Coutinho and Luiz so his clients can have more interests. Too much of a coincidence

Nvm, it's real. He has gone on strike and refusing to train to force a move

Looks like the contract based business is with Kia

Upamecano and Tierney, and Iwobi out.

Lmao imagine we sign Luiz. Chelsea fans will be so so mad. Why would he force a move from a UCL side he grew up at to us?

Klaus. Luiz or Rugani?

It makes sense for him, as he'll play for us and not for them. I'm all aboard the Upamecano train though and nobody can get me off it.

Luiz started 36 PL games last season. Played nearly 50 games in all comps. I was actually surprised how well he did for them in a back four.

That said, I can't believe this is who we've actually turned too. Should not have come to this.

The club is trying to raise as much money from the useless parts as possible. Unfortunately they've all gone for peanuts so, in order to get serious cash, we are going to have to part with better players.
I like Iwobi but using xA and xG only tells us he has done better than expected. Since 3 goals and 6 assists is way ahead "on our xA and xG chains" as you put it, those expectations must have been very low.

Having more goals than xG is a good trait, Messi is consistently ahead of that statistic. Having higher A than xA is down to luck though, or rather having teammates that do more with the chances than could be expected of them.

Scoring 30 goals in consecutive seasons is impressive. 3 goals is not.

Regarding Iwobi:

Bloke's a genuinely good player despite what the mob would have you believe. We're not going to get that much out of any internal replacement next season.

I thought he was first choice last year with Rudiger.

If we are signing him as a DM or in a back 3 it will make a lot of sense because his distribution is one of the best out there but...

I may remember wrong then, thought he was benched towards the end of the season. If he's actually first choice it makes no sense to force a move. If we're looking at betting sites Chelsea are favorites for 4th, while we're favorites for 6th.

They're managed by a rookie and have just lost their best player. Not hard to see why any good players they have might want out.

We were trying to sign those 2 before this Iwobi out stuff started. If he's going we need someone coming in to replace him.

Iwobi is a decent player, but I'd bite Everton's hand off for £40m.

Two seasons. We're completely fucked in 20/21 too if we can't reach Champions League this season.

Not ideal but I would rather him than Mustafi in our back 4.

If you say Iwobi's general play is good they tell you he has no end product, if you point to his creative stats they tell you that doesn't matter. We need a squad and Iwobi is pretty important to that. Apart from being quite a good player he's a fit player who works hard. Those are lacking in our AM/wing options at the moment.

Luiz isn't a bad player if we play a back five FWIW

In a back four I wouldn't trust him in the slightest.

Iwobi is good, but if selling him means we can afford to pay extra for Upamecano it's a no brainer.

what the actual fuck

Contacts-based transfer business. We're picking and choosing between every fuckwit agents try to stick us with: Rugani, Luiz, Coutinho...

Has Raul gone back to zero yet?

With our luck Luiz and Mustafi will end up being the only fit CBs in December.

Telegraph says Emery wants to work with Luiz again after their successful spell at PSG and Edu who is close to him is pushing for him.

Those Emery quotes suggest an old regime close to the window

I actually rate Luiz mind

Chelsea fans says Lampard prefer Christensen or Zouma to partner Rudiger and Luiz reportedly have a fallout with him.

They are devastated as he is their leader on the pitch and just signed a new contract in May. Many angry he wants to leave when they are at their weakest with a transfer ban ongoing.
