To be fair we've used a more private approach on players and still had our best players use the press to force a move.

Yep fair points all round. And Emery has put it politely. Not like he did a Chris Wilder approach or something which was pretty rude

I feel the same way and the first name that came to mind was Kos but in his case i think the club is the one that went to press when things came to a head.
The success, or otherwise, of this approach is debatable as it didn't work with both parties getting, more or less, exactly what they would have got from the negotiation that had, reportedly, been on-going since the end of the season. We would've avoided the embarrassing strike which came about when the club refused to budge and would've been in the market for a replacement much earlier that the last minute trolley dash where we got lucky when Chelsea dumped Luiz at the death.
I'm also not sure it achieves the goal if the player is overpaid as the player is not likely to take a financial hit just because of bad press and there are numerous example of players continuing to get paid by simply turning up for training till the end of their contracts.

From Fabregas, to Van Persie, even Henry et al have all used the press, or dropped “hints” as to why they are leaving or seeking a move.

I personally do not with coming out to the press, but I absolutely agree with completely dropping a player.

I mean never getting a minute or sniff at first team training.

We have been a soft touch for far too long.

There are levels to how both players and clubs use the press for these things. Its not like people from the club are slagging off the players. They're just saying they're not in Emerys plans this season.

Van Persie is not a good example as he only had 10 months of his contract left and made it clear he was going to leave in that statement. Wenger should've fucked him up by making him see out the contract rather than gift Man Utd the title for that £30.7m which was peanuts for a player like him which he didn't re-invest but chose to play the donkey Giroud as our main striker.
Many others have refused to sign extensions and left on free transfers (Flamini, Nasri, Ramsey) without going to press.
Off the top of my head, i can only come up with a small but quite illustrious list.
Vieira, Henry and Fabregas with Vieira being the only one that wasn't polite after an escalation by an individual at the club.

What?! Maybe you can clarify, because what I think I'm reading is a total lie.

Is it now?

Well, are you saying Fabregas and Vieira never went to the press?

On the contrary.
I said Vieira, Henry and Fabregas are the only 3 i can think of that did.

Is this one of those blue dress/gold dress situations? To me it looks like you’ve said Vieira was the only one that did.

Adebayor famously told a room full of journos he was leaving us for Milan.

Got ya. Still find the wording confusing though!

Loads of our players have, petit, overmars etc the list is endless

It is time to redress the balance. It is an honour to play here, and if not good enough, on you go.

No worries geez!
My posts always are, tbf, as i often write without punctuation marks and use the "edit" when i notice grammatical errors sometimes hours later.

Bayern have somehow manage to recoup 20 million for Renato Sanches.

He is on his way to Lille after 3 years for which he has been a resounding flop at both Bayern and Swansea.

Inter's template for success is to copy the attack that got United 6th place?
