I don't watch him week in week out to be fair, but I've seen him enough to have a decent opinion of him. I follow a bit of the discussion around Serie A in general too and I know what the Juve fans think of him. It doesn't combine for a pretty picture.
The most worrying part to me is the rumours about a two-year loan with a mandatory buy clause. I just can't see how it's a good move to spend £50-60 million in total on this guy over the next 24 months and then not even have the option of getting rid of him.
We've been told we're outsmarting the market, but does spending £80 million on Pepe and then picking up scraps from other clubs really fit that idea? What's the plan here, exactly? How come we have a three month transfer window but we're still left on deadline day trying to pick out a few good apples at the bottom of a rotten barrel?
