Bild were one of the first to break the story as well, they're saying we might go in for 60m euros + ESR.

It seems like this story has legs, lets just see if we have the money to get it done.

Couple years ago yes but not now, as with Arsenal always behind the curve. You could probably find a cracking talent for cheaper who might come good but not someone who seems to be on the cusp of being a top player.

Release clause next season drops to £73m at today's exchange rate. He's out of contract in 2021, considering they seem to already have a replacement at the club indicates they might be open to selling him if the offer is good enough.

Throw in Smith Rowe. Don't think he'll ever turn into anything more than a decent player. His touch is way too heavy.

Completely agree. Add to it that players in his position of his quality are a dime a dozen... i don't think he'll be a world beater, and we severely need a quality cb.

Wonder if we'd have been able to nab him at a lower price if this occurred pre Maguire to United?

Even though Saliba's a year out, it'd be a pretty sweet thing to be signing two very young, incredible central defensive prospects this summer who potentially might lock down the position for us for five years or even a decade.

This style of recruitment is completely at odds with the "teenage but a gamble, lower leagues but potential, a little over the hill but guaranteed" methods we've been used to.

Sounds like it's either this guy or the Italian bloke, doesn't seem to be any credible links to anyone else. Isn't a bit odd how different to two of them are? One is short but quick and good on the ball, the other is taller, slow, cumbersome and average on the ball. Doesn't point to any sort of pattern in terms of the type of centre back we might be after.

Rugani is supposed to be a loan though isn't it? PRobably just who's available.

I think Upamecano is a long-term target, whereas Rugani is a last resort, cover signing that we probably have very little interest in ever paying money for.

So, the differences in their game are not indicative of a lack of a plan, in my book.

Stories seem to suggest that Juve want a permanant move for Rugani though, so even a loan would require an obligation to buy.
