I also feel like media people haven’t taken the temperature of Arsenal fans. We are generally in a far different place from 12 months ago. The rapid squad turnover has left people far upbeat. So we are less likely to be activated by negative press because sentiment has shifted. We are cautiously hopeful, no longer feasting on misery.

Way too much pressure on this guy to drive us up the pitch in every single game he plays.

We really need to get Ceballos up to speed and used correctly.

Pépé has chosen not to join the Ivory Coast squad to work on his fitness in London instead. Sounds good to me, hopefully he'll have a great game when the internationals are over.

I agree with BBKG. The sooner we can get a relationship between these two players (Pépé and Ceballos), the better. They will be vital for getting fluency in our attack. They’re both very progressive and skillful players who will be able to beat traps and open up spaces for our strikers. If we can get the two of them plus AMN going, that makes a massive difference for a start.

I mean, why shouldn't Pepe be expected to "drive us up the pitch"? Honestly, I'm not sure he's done much on that front. Doozi drives us forward as much as anyone.

His end product has been shite. I don't think the formation makes much difference when he's wildly slashing at 90% of shots and crosses.

Seriously what a fucking awful tweet. Pepe is plenty of the ball in all the positions you'd expect he's just struggling once he has it. He keeps getting in good positions in the box for shots but he's snatching at them, constantly getting the ball on the wing where you'd expect him to but he just can't get past PL full backs. He'll sort it out, its just a bit of a step up.

I think Pepe's troubles are his own as much as they are systematic. There's nothing Emery can do that will stop Pepe from sending crosses straight out of play, skying shots, etc.

Been dirt poor, probably one of the most underwhelming starts to an Arsenal career in decades (yes, there have been worse players but not many coming as starters for a record fee).

Really needs to get sorted and quick because we're pretty much starting with a player short at the moment and we're not even that good with a full eleven.

He's leading the team for successful dribbles and key passes per game, so it's not like he's a complete waste of space or being a passenger.

It’s a step up for him for sure. He has still to adapt his game to this level and must learn to find that balance between being more careful with taking care of the ball and keeping possession, whilst not being overly safe in his play.

I wouldn’t be too harsh on him, especially considering his youth, newness to the English game, and our lack of structured attacking ideas.

Also, with the exception of Watford, he's not really had an easy run of games to build some momentum. That's why I think he should play tonight and hopefully grab a goal or two. Bournemouth are also a relatively open team to play against.

Yeah its hard to build form against United, Spurs, Liveprool. We've a decent run of games now so hopefully he'll gain some confidence and figure out the PL a bit better over those matches. At least he's still getting into games and getting on the ball, I'd be a lot more worried if he was starting to disappear.
