Agree Gazza I think the reality with our current position, games left and teams above means that 6th is the likely target and I think that will be tough to get as well based on fixtures.

I actually feel more likely we finish 7th or 8th.

I hate the position we are in. I want us to win the games to build morale, including FA Cup. But I’d prefer we had no Europa. Gives us more license to dump deadwood.

And then next season, Mikel will have 5 days to work on tactics for each game.

I think qualifying for Europa is quite important personally. We’re past the point where it can be considered a distraction.

You just had to watch the national team games to know it wasn't some SuperLiga bully thing he was doing. He was always super quality. He's the level of star quality we need. We had that with Alexis. Remember how he used to just take over games on his own and hand us a win?

It actually is a distraction. We have to win the league. If we can use next season, after the tumult of this season to give Arteta time to get the boys to build the system, that would be so valuable. Spending the time in trains and planes instead of on the field learning total football is time wasted.

A prerequisite would, of course, be bringing in one or two more technical players who can integrate into the football style and dumping a few of the more leaden footed players. But we have to drill that Dutch style into this team day in and day out incessantly rather than fly off to Baku

His crossing and shooting technique is immense. No wonder he had insane stats for a CM. He's going to score and assist like mad like Lampard in his hey days

Greenwood is ridiculous talent. He has a proper eye for goal. Hits the ball with authority

Well Liverpool are a CL team and United are a Europa team so that contributes. Greenwood is a real gem though unfortunately.

England have quite a bit of talent coming through at the moment. Possibly their best generation in decades.

I think both the midfield and defensive talent is definitely lacking compared to the 'golden generation'.

The golden generation was lacking. The sign of an insular footballing culture that didn’t benchmark itself against the continent. France and Italy were producing divine footballers and even the embers of Germany were as good or better, willing themselves to high places in international competitions.

They may have lacked culture but they had genuinely world class footballers which is something the current crop don't have a lot of. A back four that included Rio, Terry and Cole, a midfield that included Lampard, Gerrard, Carrick and Hargreaves as well as a prime Rooney up top. The only think it was really lacking was good wide players and a 'modern' formation.
