There's no more room for nuances, everything is crystal clear. Some people are not willing to put up with any kind of dissonance. Nuance is what has allowed racism to prevail.
I've always said it's not the guy who'll throw a racist slur in your face or have a nazi tatoo on their chest that you have to worry about, they're actually pretty harmless on the whole. It's the ones that believe they've not got a racist bone in their body but hold a whole host of subtly racist, xenophobic or at very least, ignorant views.
That being said, there's nothing subtle about ALM/WLM.
