This gonna be with the crowd soundtrack too?

As someone mentioned, the English channels are probably too proud to do it, but maybe the American streams will.

Has there been any news on what will happen with loan deals, expired contracts and the transfer window?

There is no point to football, it just goes on every season, what makes this season so important that it needs to be finished?

That’s like asking why bother finishing a book or a movie. Except in those cases you generally don’t invest literally days of your time into it.

Can't really face the thought of actually seeing Liverpool win the league while we limp home into 9th, but quite keen to see if another FA Cup run is a possibility.

More than anything, continuity. Just makes it so much simpler to get going next season.

I find the impact money has so fascinating. See how it informs very different outcomes

  • big ongoing TV contract in England forces teams to finish season
  • in France, tiny contract now but huge contracts starting in August, so league chose to end in order to focus on being able to start in time for the new contract
  • English women: hardly any money, just cancel current season.

For the women, it’s more or less the same clubs as in men’s game. If we would like to believe a principles-based approach was employed, then the principle is CREAM.

So our season is kind of like The 100 and you need to finish it?

There is absolutely no reason to finish the 100. Just quit like the French.

Sunk cost, Goon.

I learned a hard lesson getting 5 or so seasons into Lost. They turned a wheel and my stomach did the same. And I promised myself thereafter I would never over-invest. When I get a bad feeling, I just quit. The 100, The Walking Dead, War of the Worlds etc., all prematurely ended

i watched like half of the first season of lost before i lost interest, but the show that taught me the same lesson you learned was sons of anarchy. by the end i was just hate watching it to see it through and i said never again. now if kurt sutter's name is attached to it, i'm not watching even 5 mins of it.

Arrow was this show for me. Smallville should've been it, but unfortunately I finished the whole thing.

Blacklist was for me. No idea why it was a joke of a show from the first episode but I somehow ended up watching about a hundred episodes.

I swear was actually was going to add TV shows but The 100 made me reconsider 😆

It's completely different though.

i watched the first few episodes of the 100 when it debuted but all the black people kept dying so i said fuck this shit.

Yeah there's definitely something weird going on with race on the show. You have a space station consisting of 13 nations or whatever and yet all the survivors are Americans, mostly white. Then then the two Indian folks in the show just happen to be doctors...

When they started letting him do the extra long episodes I realised I actually didn't like it at all any more and certainly wasn't willing to put over an hour into it every week.

You think in real life if they were launching a space ship to save people from a failing earth they'd let a lot of black people on it?

You’ll need essential workers in space as well

Good point but then ratio is like 10000-1 among survivors left behind on earth too.

Well, these guys weren’t there. It’s mostly a bunch of kids who grew up on the web. They are probably more versed on BLM than liverpool history.

From the same club that brought you....

different time. who their best players are now vs who were their best players were back then. best players have the biggest voice.

Its not about the players, its about the club and its pretty clear Liverpool don't give a flying fuck about racism and never have.

Half expecting to see a smiling Glen Johnson pop out of that circle...

Liverpool certainly know how to bring the cringe to every situation.

Same deal as the other corporations bringing out their BLM-co-branded statements. There are worse things I guess.

Better than ignoring it.

Its just woke marketing. Nothing more.

Not sure how it's any better than ignoring it. Honestly it's way worse.

The players called for it though.

Even if they didn't, I struggle to see how it's a net negative. Some people will respond to it, most won't but if it impacts someone then great. Maybe the Liverpool PR team will pat themselves on the back for doing absolutely nothing but so what? What is up with everything needing to fit one extreme or another around here? It's wearisome.

Kick It Out clearly don't think it's a bad idea - they've called all players to follow suit. Maybe someone should tell them off too: https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/11998857/george-floyd-kick-it-out-urges-all-players-to-take-a-knee-in-solidarity

So I see marketing by corporations in two ways

  • for typical companies speak up and take a very clear position against tyranny and/ or commit to causes by sponsoring something or commit to improving how you deal with race and representation in your own staff.
  • for players, I think it’s enough to take a stand and take a very clear position. Players have fans whose views cover a wide range of society. Joe Burrow took heaps of abuse from conservatives who said he’s cancelled over his support for the black community. But it’s great for him to role model for other people who might need a critical mass to believe in a cause.

Regardless of whether its genuine or cheap point scoring this is the correct answer

I just wish we would see more individuals and companies outline what they're going to do, not just say they stand for the cause.

Other clubs joining in:

baby steps. I think music labels giving people blackout Tuesday off to protest is a start. companies can take some time to be really thoughtful about comprehensive policy they want to develop

I worked in a company that had posters everywhere about diversity, etc Their company style guide had instructions to make sure you had black people in marketing materials etc And then one day they needed something done for Saudi and asked me to change all the dark brown people to light brown people in a graphic, ok to leave the white people as they are, just no black people.

No he stayed because he one of his black friends worked there so it was ok.

I’ve deleted my comment so as not to derail this thread.
