I think you're right Mirth. I'll go further and add that I don't think either of them are amazing talents. But I also don't think that's a particularly meaningful point to make. Players are (or at least should be) judged by how much they contribute to their own team, not some other theoretical setup.
If we were putting our transfer money into fullbacks this summer none of them would be high on my list though. TAA is a techically good player, but he has always struck me as someone who dominates because of the system. It happens sometimes in teams that set up a particular way. I'm thinking of how a scrub like Kolasinac dominated our attacking stats last season because we obsessed with wing play so much and concentrated all of it down the left. He's not even good enough to make most match day squads under normal circumstances.
I also remember when Liverpool used to claim Glen Johnson was world class.
