You think he's clearly ahead of Mbappe?

I suppose I'd rather build around Mbappe, but given the choice of a player for a single season I'd lean to Neymar.

I will pick Mbappe over Neymar too but that's just a personal preference. Don't think there's much in them

Neymar is a genius with a level of technical quality, balance and awareness that, for me, Mbappé can't touch (only one player beats Neymar in this regard, and no one else comes close to even matching him imo), but he's also injured often and is not the athlete that Mbappé is.

Both very different, but a fully fit Neymar is still clearly the better player for now, in my opinion.

Spot on. Neymar is the better finisher and the vastly better creator. He's not as fast as Mbappe nobody is but he's ridiculously fast himself, top 3 dribbler in Europe and his ball retention is also levels above Mbappe. One could reasonably pick the latter because of fitness and more importantly age but P4P there's no comparison.

Neymar is a different class of talent. He has extraordinary ability on the ball. What Mbappe has over him is a little bit more power. Both are marvelous.

On Liverpool. It’s sad that it’s them. But I actually appreciate what they’ve achieved. They are a marvel in coaching. They are basically process engineering excellence. Perfection through repetition. Having the right pieces in the right places. They’re more your orchestra. We are more accustomed to judging quality in football as jazz, where the best players have scope to. Improvise and add a flourish to the baseline concept.

The reason they’re so inspiring is they make success accessible. Their wage bill is significantly smaller than the mega clubs. They had an arrangement and executed on it. We can all do it. We can’t all emulate what PSG and Real are doing.

Huh. Apparently Liverpool have the second highest retention after throw-ins in Europe. Midtjylland is the only team better than them, and they have the same throw-in coach as Liverpool. Maybe it's not such a worthless position to have.

I had no idea a throw-in coach was an actual thing, but I'd happily spend our whole summer budget on that guy. The amount of hair I've lost watching Arsenal taking throw-ins these past 12 years...

😆 Loved Clichy but genuinely don't think the bloke ever took a throw-in that didn't end up in a counter for the opposition. It just begs belief that a human being can be so bad at anything.

Was going to mention Clichy in response to your post earlier. It’s not just how bad he was, but how long he took to take them. You almost wanted him booked for time wasting.
