Nice afternoon. Sunshine, Ceballos and Saliba.

Perfect. See you next year. In the mean time, we will imagine that you're Tony Adams while Shkodran mustafis.
He's got a lot to live up to for a teenager. Guess we'll all be keeping an eye on St. Etienne this season.
Great to see this done, but I can't really get excited at the moment about a kid in his teens who I haven't seen play and won't arrive until next summer. He better be a Varane level talent to motivate this sort of investment.
Great to see

more importantly, next season, we better have a solid, experienced CB who he can learn from. because i assume we arent spending all this money to let him play in the league cup. hes going to be starting for us in 2 seasons. and if hes starting next to someone like mustafi, it doesnt matter how talented he is, he is going to struggle and that could greatly hurt his development

Huss Fahmy with the man marking job. It might be the sun getting to me, but I swear I saw a flash of Raul dancing at one point.
Saliba looks one cool mofo though.
From the short Arsenal announcement video I posted in the opening post:

Might partly explain why we got such a highly rated player, and why he wasn't interested in joining Tottenham.
Sounds like he's got a good head on his shoulders.
Where's DK? He should post those Saliba quotes on the Spurs forum. Get the people going.
Been waiting for defensive signing of this profile most of my adult life
Same. Tall strong and pacy. We have never ever signed a young defender this highly rated so for that I'm excited enough. What's more, a player we think is worth loaning back for just to get his signature must be darn good.
Anyway so as it turns out the loan was compulsory and no money added on would have gotten him without the loan back.

I'm happy about the loan. It's the right move, showing that there are good people on all sides. The boy can have some home-cooked steaks and continue to develop in peace in a familiar environment to get to about 2000 minutes as a full-fledged starter.
Then he can arrive here fully cooked. All he has to do next year is work out what his partner Mustafi is trying to do.
That's his thinking too, Claude:

Definitely. Physicality is dismissed some times, but when you're built like Saliba is and move like he does, boy, can it give you a big advanatage.
Genuinely exciting signing for the defense, wouldn’t mind Boateng as cover for the year. Also seems we are paying £3.6m this year leaving plenty for the other CB we get.

that's why i don't get how wenger could spend so many years building arsenal's reputation in france (francenal) and they get a super golden generation and we don't end up with any. what's the point of all these great french players talking about how they supported arsenal and they're playing for other big clubs.
He reminds me of a young Vincent Kompany
A player who won't be here this season and another who won't be here next is a fairly underwhelming transfer announcement even by Arsenal standards. Hope he's decent but like Klaus I can't get excited yet about a teenager coming next season when we continue with the defence in a dire state this season.
Pair him up with a primo centre back in the 23-25 age bracket next season and profit

maybe varane can force his way out of madrid and we can have present varane and future varane playing next to each other
Welcome to the club.
