We could be back in even in 6th place if this gets approved.
Teams will be increased from 32 to 36 clubs. Also apparently there is a proposal to keep some of the big clubs in the comp even if they don't qualify through the league. Don't know how closing up shop and preventing the big boys dropping out is any different to the European Super League that this is supposed to prevent from happening.

UEFA will present the outlines of its Champions League reform project to several European leagues this Friday.
Faced with the threat of the European Superleague, UEFA is sharpening its weapons. The European confederation is therefore considering changing the format of its Champions League to make it more attractive . It has already sketched out the outlines that it will present to several leagues this Friday with the objective of implementing this reform for 2024. RMC Sport has been made aware of UEFA's plans.
36 participants, from the round of 16
She wants to increase the number of participants from 32 currently to 36. The teams would play at least ten games each in a championship where they would not necessarily all face each other, in a system to be refined. The hens should therefore disappear from this new format. The rest of the competition is also set to evolve with the creation of the round of 16, while the current format qualifies the first two in each group for the round of 16.
Six additional dates, the championships reduced?
These new features would add six additional dates over a season. Discussions will be held with the various national leagues to make room in the calendar. Several avenues are being studied, such as reducing the number of teams in certain championships with changes from 20 to 18 clubs envisaged. The abolition of the League Cup in countries where it still exists is another hypothesis, such as the reduction of national cup rounds for teams entered in the European Cup.
A protection system for historical teams
UEFA is also considering setting up a protection system for certain "historic" teams in the event that they do not qualify through their championship. This point is still unclear, but it is a basis for UEFA's work.
Up to six clubs per country
The new format could allow up to six clubs from the same country to participate depending on the invitations (historical clubs), the winner of the Europa League and the new rules.
