Poland announce they will not be playing Russia for the playoffs. Well done. Countries should pull out if Russia is not banned from world cup. FIFA need to act.

Not sure I see why Russia should be banned. This is the first time two European nations have been at war for a while but its not like other parts of the world don't have to live with it all the time. The US even got to host the World Cup while they were bombing Iraq and Somalia.

I'm not sure cutting sports ties will help in any way. Placating the public by punishing specific offenders will always cause a lot more problems because of perceived and actual unequal treatment.

The US are obviously the worst offender but its not like other NATO countries weren't involved in wars of aggression and war crimes in recent years too. Just because Blair Cameron or Sarkozy should be on trial in the Hague doesn't mean Mbappe and Saka shouldn't be allowed to play in big tourneys.

I don't think it's controversial to ban Russia if that's indeed what will happen; I think it's a fundamentally good thing, even if it's hypocritical. Arguably every country acting as an aggressor in any current war should be banned but it is what it is.

I only wish that the world pretended to be this moral when it came to scummy nations like Qatar in the first place; maybe then we would have had a World Cup this summer that actually felt worth defending.

FIFA has confirmed Russia will not be allowed to participate under Russia, but can still participate under another name. No anthems, no flags. Basically like what happened in Olympics. Pure cowardice decision from FIFA.

Following that, England confirmed they won't play against any form of Russia in football in the foreseeable future. Well done. Poland also confirmed they won't play against any Russia.
