beyond nonsense. 5m in interest payments (2.57%) over 5 years ... everyone would be doing that. your cash reserves would earn more interest than you're paying.

How common are these margin loans in football? I'm seeing it more and more. I believe barca funded griezmanns release clause this way as well

We'd be banking that his market value overtakes the interest on the loan

Barcelona had to do that because a release clause is not transferred like a normal fee to the club but deposited with RFEF, that's not happening with Pepe and Lille though. Meatwad already mentioned that's wildly unrealistic with those figures anyway

A bit like you, Ricky, I really don’t care about the actual number. Most important thing is we have one of the most exciting AMs in the league and we can finally match City and Liverpool for attacking prowess.

Does it really matter if it is 60, 72 or something else if we do not have a clear understanding of what the actual underlying cash flow situation is, what the payment and hedging structure are. The spread could go everywhere. It’s the ambition that resonates

Totally agree. I couldn't care less, just more to spend on a CB if it is lower. Pépé lining up on our right wing next season is the only important part.

I also think the racist shit African players have to navigate in Serie A helped when it was between us and Napoli.
