I'd even go a bit older than that as long as they're showing signs of improvement. Just because they don't sky rocket to world class doesn't mean they aren't useful too. I think thats another mistake people make on our own kids.

I am, but Nilmar was considered a supreme talent back in those days. Stylistically Martinelli is very similar.

I mean he flopped at Lyon but he is prolific everywhere else in the world and for Brazil as well

what do you consider prolific? he played in 2 european leagues: ligue 1 and la liga. and he wasn't prolific in either. his record in brazil and qatar wasn't even anything to write home about. if that's martinelli's future then why bother.

I don't know, I think 30 goals in 80 apps or so in his first 2 years was pretty good for Villarreal. I remember he had a great partnership with Rossi and Villarreal was good those days. His last season there was injury ravaged.

But yeah youre right Martinelli has the potential to be a 20-30 goal striker per season if nurtured correctly.

Nilmar was terrific in his Villarreal days, one of my favourite strikers in Europe around that time. Similar to Rossi it was the injuries that did him in. No shame to be compared talent wise at all
