Much quicker than Firminho, but Firminho is still the much better link-up player. Martinelli is a very talented player, but we'll see if he makes it. He is one of those types of players who can explode for a few games and then disappear for the rest of his career. But he can also turn into a world class striker. High risk, high reward.

Doesn't have Patos absurd burst of pace but he's plenty rapid anyway.

Haven't seen any comparisons that really fit at the moment, Firmino especially seems like a lazy comparison. Martinelli seems seriously talented on the ball, physically gifted, his attitude and battling personality are massive factors too. Really looking forward to see how he develops

His instinct for where the ball will be is incredible so far. And his finishing is mint. There’s a lot to like.

I'd argue he's more like Mane than Firminho....but I think it's too early to make any definitive comparisons.

The great thing about that second goal was something you see with really experienced strikers - calm plus an instinctive awareness of where the goal and goalie were. Bang! Lacazette also operates well in tight spaces but I suspect this kid might be able to make decisions a few tenths of a second faster

That’s some match comp. I reckon that near post flick was on target if it wasn’t blocked, if he scored there that would have surpassed the Vela hat trick for awesomeness.

The kid has really good instincts.

From that comp he did much more than I noticed on the stream I had to refresh every fifth minute. He did it all, really. Dribling, positioning, finishing, heading, defensive work.

It's a real newspaper thing to do. The new henry headline creates a buzz and makes everyone read it. Another 'above average youngster' doesn't have the same charm.

Its surprising how hard it is to find good comparisons considering how many footballers we all know. you'd think it'd be tons easier to find someone similar player/explayer.
It's one of the charms of football that players have so many unique skills and ways of playing the game that are so different.
