He was one of the few players really putting in effort even when things weren’t going well in the Emery era. Can only imagine how well he will be able to perform now the whole team seems to be on board.

It's a good sign his head is switched on. He's gonna be an ambitious player.

Him doing well here could also work well for Edu if he wants to bring in other young talent from South America. I'm sure many young players will be watching his progress with interest.

Once he is back up to fitness I'd be starting him on the left and move Auba back in the middle.

How do you make up for Laca’s high energy? I think he’s fundamental for deploying Arteta’s ideas. Or will the joint goal threat of Auba and Gabigol make up?

Aubameyang doesn't lack energy. You can see it when he plays out wide. He definitely doesn't enjoy the physical aspect though and Laca does get stuck in. Aubameyang's play with back to goal is almost non existent too. It will be interesting to see how Arteta shuffles the front line, if he does at all.

Much will depend on the style Arteta wants to play & where Martinelli feels most comfortable.
Playing wide hasn't stopped Sterling becoming a bona fide goal scorer, although I recall hearing a comment in one of the early games that Martinelli prefers to play more centrally???

I agree about Lacas energy, think his hold up and link play is important too. Aubas been pretty good on the wing too.

I don't think it matters a ton anyway, there are plenty of games and Marti can rotate in and out pretty easily on the left wing or CF. He'll play plenty as will the 2 strikers.

Other way round, Martinelli says he models his game on Cristiano Ronaldo and loves to play as a left forward.

It doesn't really matter at this point though, I'm sure he'll play wherever he is convinced by the coaches and game time is his best bet of making it to the top.

Will be an astounding centre forward when its all said and done. We've seen his heading ability, and given his quick decision making he has the potential to navigate two CBs. Doesn't need to make the switch for 5 odd years in my opinion. Follow the growth route similar to RVP. Also hasn't Selecao lacked an elite CF since Adriano? I hope they have him earmarked for that role in the future.

I think Auba has a lot more energy and with him being a lot quicker he would be better suited at pressing from the front. There would also be the added bonus of our front three being much quicker. The only thing Laca does better is hold up play, Auba is weak there but Laca isn't exactly great. The thinking is however if our midfield and wide players are more effective we shouldn't need too much hold up play from our CF.

Think we need the hold up play when we are pinned back and need to bypass the midfield . You need someone who can take the ball with their back to goal and relieve the pressure. Laca has given a lot to the team recently by his will to fight for the ball. I was really hoping he would score when he turned McGuire , that would have done so much for his confidence.

Maybe in the short term.

Long term we need a capable and mobile midfield, and a quick and dynamic forward line that makes the opposition terrified of dropping deep with our forwards, and allowing space in behind them.
