How is it an amazing deal? It's at the high end of what I'd be willing to pay him even without the players.

Everyone has fallen for the narrative being written by Palace, the idea that 40m was a 'joke' offer, that he's somehow worth 80-100m etc. You'd think we're talking about Hazard rather than someone who's end product is a lot closer to Iwobi's.

On one hand I agree, on the other I don't think there's much value in Jenkinson, while Nelson going on loan might actually be a positive for us since he gets Premier League experience and he doesn't look ready for us yet.

Tend to agree. On the whole I'm happy to give Zaha a chance but if he costs £65m and is on massive wages then suddenly we'll have yet another footballer who no one else wants and taking up a huge chunk of our payroll.

£65m is more than a fair deal for Zaha, Palace can fuck off.

We know it's not as simple as all that. Zaha wants to be here, specifically. Prices will take that into account. Pepe might go elsewhere for cheaper, but it could take 80 or more to get him at Arsenal. We don't know, but it has to be factored in.

Maybe if he had a year or two left, but according to most sources I've seen his contract runs until 2023. He extended it last season, which was a daft thing to do. What's he going to do, sulk for the next four years if this doesn't happen? Palace hold all the cards, and I do think their asking price is so high partly because they know they'll never get a replacement on his level.

Palace must dig in their heels. He must stick around until they get maximum value and they get the right replacement. They have a chance to take this Zaha and Wan-Bissaka money and build a new narrative.

Feeling is this will happen, but close to the end of the window. Palace are probably waiting on some big signing they can tout as it doesn't look good for them to have a fee comparable to Wan Bissaka for their star player and no significant replacements in sight. Having spent a lot of money on Benteke and Sakho and other loan fees (all in instalments) in a bid to stay up, I reckon the financial reality is they have very limited funds to play so are playing hardball.

I'm hoping this deal falls apart and we have to actually find better players. I'd rather get Malcom for 35M or someone like Bailey for 50M or so.
