Who needs Sven?

€80 fucking million!
We hired Sven to get players like him for a fraction of that price.

and if we signed a raw 22 year old from angers for 10m people would be talking about our small time business while our rivals are buying ready made players.

Sven's tactic wasn't about offering peanuts and arguing over final details for weeks.
It was identifying the target and closing the deal quickly before the big boys got involved.
See Guendouzi.

a guendouzi type deal is the equivalent of pepe at angers.

A no Sven club is our current transfer window.
Hopefully Edu plugs that gap.

Are you saying people in general complained about the Guendouzi transfer?

no they had the appropriate expectations (none) and were surprised by the contribution. this summer arsenal don't need to be surprised by any contribution from players they sign, they should be expecting it based on where we are as a club. so no i don't think arsenal supporters will be satisfied with the club taking a bunch of 10m flyers in the hopes of them turning out to be great in 2 years.

We don’t have this kind of money, but 80m€ is much better employed in this fashion. Tonight I will sleep with a goofy smile

Really don't get the hysteria. We weren't far off top four last season and the transfer window still has a couple weeks to go. Yeah, Kos is on strike but we're not gonna let him go unless we have a suitable replacement; even with his recent tantrum, if he were to stay, I'm fairly certain he'd get his shit together for us and play. Outside of that, I'm not sure I see any real drama. People are getting hyped up on minutiae as far as I can see and the window isn't even closed.

True but still bit concerning we haven’t signed anyone 6 weeks in and the clock is ticking.....

Don't get me wrong, I get why it might be concerning. But I'm going to wait to see whether the club deliver - there's been so much upheaval behind the scenes the last twelve months, I think they deserve some time to prove themselves.

5 days later

Sky reporting Wilf has handed in a transfer request. Are we still on the case ?

Palace will take our PAYG structure and like it

Loan for 10m fee with compulsory buy for 60m next season.

I think he offers us the best chance of top 4 but i think it will remain a long shot so i'm not too fussed if we don't get him as he has no resale value and also because i hate the idea of paying manu.

Palace sources were telling Dharmesh Sheth last week that Arsenal could still make a deal happen for Zaha if they "get creative" with their bid. Instalments, bonuses, possibly players. They were opening the door.

I'll try to find the tweet, but methinks Palace know Zaha wants to go and will not change his mind and they think getting a decent bit of money so they can get in some quality is the wise thing to do.

Throw Palace Chambers, Jenkinson, maybe Nketiah on loan.

lets keep chambers, maybe he can help us.

id offer them xhaka, ozil, mustafi, mkh, and jenkinson in a swap for zaha. no cash involved

Yeah if they are interested in any of those guys, we should be giving them away.

We should keep Eddie , loan them Nelson.

Give them Ozil, what a big star for Palace. He wouldn't even need to move house.

i could produce a powerpoint with like 10 slides that illustrate how great a move this would be for palace. im happy to do it free of charge for Edu if he needs the assistance

Give them Bielik an the 40m pounds we bid before.

You can do it, just remember that presentation is key.

If those are still allowed, I couldn't think of a better and more realistic (for us) approach. Seems we've stumped our budget on Saliba, Tierney and Everton this year. Reckon we'll have some freedom in budget next year as suitors may be more open to Mkhi/Ozil/Mustafi as their contracts near the end.

Could also add in some clause/bonus based on our CL qualification to help them/us.

No need.
Just show them last night's game where he was the best player on the pitch.

You’ve said this a couple of times.

It’s an extremely subjective opinion.

For us, Aubameyang was obviously the star of the show, and I was quite impressed by Joe Willock as well.

For Bayern, their wingers Serge and Coman were extremely dangerous and exciting to watch.

The only thing that stood out about Ozil was his hair. He had a decent game, but nothing to rave about. Reading through Arsenal/footy blogs today and the forum match thread and there isn’t much mention of him at all.

Aubameyang was fantastic as well and i wouldn't argue with someone who thought he was better as everyone looks at different things.
Heck BBKG thought Xhaka was great and, even though i disagreed, i said it was possible as i could've missed something.
Joe Willock was absolutely incredible as well but as he is a youth player, like Nketiah and JJ, the "absolutely incredible" bar is lower.
The reason i continue to state that Ozil was the best player on the pitch is his combined influence. He was the main playmaker and free kick taker as well as taking all the corners. His link-up play was second to none and that includes the Bayern team. He should've crowned his performance with a goal but it has to be noted that he was the only one who kept up with Auba's run. Now you can downgrade these as is your want but it remains my opinion that he was the best player in that match which is not to say he is going to be any good in subsequent matches as he is the king of inconsistency.

Ozil was well up for it but my feeling is because it was Bayern and some of his ex-Germany teammates, some of whom were very critical of him when he quit the team. In reality he should be motivated like this for every game and then we have a very good player on our hands. Unfortunately I don't think that will happen , we should do our best to find him a way out.

We should do a Barca and offer them 40m + ask them to pick 2 out of any 6 players they are interested.

the old car-boot sale approach. works 0% of the time, all the time

Seeing headlines that Zaha has told Palace he wants to leave this summer, but nothing official as yet.

This was much the same sort of deal proposed to be able to make an offer for Dembele last season when it was thought he'd be leaving Barca.

Yeah, too many moving parts for it work effectively.

I still hope we find a way to pull this off though. A front three of Zaha-Laca-Auba and would be enticing especially if we can get Ozil firing again and Cebellos hits the ground running.

Would rather take the zaha cash and buy salibas future defensive partner

Did you see our defense last night? They looked like men speaking five different languages and playing together for the first time
