It's a start. The players are beginning to be more aware of their power as the product, and are flexing their muscles to see what gives. Say this happens universally in all major american sports simultaneously every time there is unjustified use of force by the police, and each time it happens for longer periods of time, we might actually be able to force policy change by continually drawing attention to the problem.

I feel it's better than the alternative which essentially boils down to shut up and keep entertaining us.
