Peruvian manager must be fuming. That kind of idiocy is the preserve of an elite few like Mustafi.

He still gave it after being made to watch the replay?! 😆

Brazil are the deserved winners, but the refereeing has been a farce.

Make a decision based on crowd noise, waste 2 minutes then to go to VAR and still get it wrong.

Ref making amends for that farcical red card. Hilarious officiating.

Jesus has been magic in this tournament. Don't think the sending off today changed that. Monster player. I wish he'd hurry up and leave that horror club he's playing for so I could find it in me to admire him without wishing he'll pull a hammy at the same time.

He was sublime in the first half tonight.

First Copa in 12 years for Brazil. Quite amazing really.

It's good our man Edu will forever be a national hero for helping bring it all together off the field for them.

Everton looks like he’s about to start rapping ‘Gucci Gang, Gucci Gang!’
Tremendous effort today from him. He’ll get a good transfer. A hype chasing club like United or Inter will take him

To be fair to Everton, he came on really steong when Brazil needed him in the final 15 minutes.

Edu looking very pleased with himself out there. And why not?

Everton awarded MotM. Extra £10m on his transfer price.

I thought Everton's strong running with the ball has been invaluable to Brazil throughout the tournament and it was his constant dribbling at pace into dangerous areas that killed this match off. Deserved MOTM.

Just curious as I haven't been following, but how did he bring it all together off the field for them?

I am just going off the fact that it was literally his job to do just that, and for the last couple of tournaments Brazil haven't been the soap opera they usually are.

They've just lacked talent relative to previous squads, good enough for the cream of South America, but fell short in Russia. Refreshing to see their squad all pulling in the same ditection though.

Gabriel Jesus not impressed with his red card:

To be fair to the kid, it was an absurd decision by the referee.

What’s interesting is he has allegedly had lots of run ins with the Neymars, particularly senior. He’s been known to push his weight around in training camp, insist on favors, have his large entourage and a bevy of strange women take up premium accommodation when other family and technical staff have to stay far from the team hotel. Edu is a guy who preaches inclusivity and harmony. He wants the players to rotate captaincy, and to use the front door of hotels and open training sessions to the public to be accessible to their public. His values are antithetical to the Neymars’. Possibly, Neymar Jr going down despite his extravagant talents was helpful to this cause.

The ref was poor for both sides and screwed Peru much more than he screwed Brazil.
The sending off was, probably, because Gabriel Jesus had just been warned about 30 seconds earlier after a clash with some random Peru player who was also given a soft yellow.

He was lambasted for the opposite (not standing up to them).

Interesting. Neymar Sr is an imposing figure. I wouldn’t want Jr on my team just because of him. He’s everywhere - negotiations, entourages, etc. Players should keep family away from football. Folks like Wanda and Rabiot Sr come to mind.

I don't think any of them are worse than guys like Mendes and Raiola though, to be honest. The world is full of assholes, but at least parents and partners have limited powers in the rest of the football world.

Wanda and Veronique are far worse than Raiola, come on. The fat guy can be a pain in the ass for clubs but he never does anything that's not in the best interests of his clients. There was recently an interview with former Liverpool player Assaidi who was represented by Mino. He said he was genuinely shocked at the wage he got from Liverpool, from the initial wage Liverpool offered to what Raiola eventually negotiated there were several magnitudes in difference apparently. Wanda and Rabiots mum on the other hand ruin everything for everyone.

No one obviously comes close to Mendes and his cancerous influence on world football. There's a special place in hell for that one.
