I'm really gutted for him but to be honest Brazil have quality CBs. I can't comment on Bremen as I haven't really seen him play but I'd say Thiago Silva, Militao and Marquinhos are all better than Gabriel. Hopefully Silva retires after this tournament and Gabriel takes his spot going forward.

Fair enough. This Brazil side actually looks really strong, not sure how I never quite caught on to the fact that they have the two best keepers in the league.

Fred is a damn good player. He's just been in a fucked up situation. I'd be happy if he was Partey and Xhaka's main back-up.

Hard to believe Thiago 'Pipoca' Silva still gets a run for Brasil. Many here reckon he is a big pussy, basically and don't want him in the national team.

Agreed. Hopefully he is not too disappointed and this will motivate him to continue improving and focus on cutting out the errors leading to goals. I can only think those small lapses are what has cost him.

He is a real leader for us at the back too. Important for us to keep him in good physical and mental shape during the tournament.

I’ve done my calculations as far as Arsenal players in the World Cup:

Partey, Turner and Tomi all out at group stage.

Xhaka out at last 16.

Saka, Ramsdale, White all out at quarter final.

Jesus/Martinelli v Saliba final.

In terms of playing time, what do we think?
Turner, Tomiyasu (fitness permitting), Xhaka, Saliba and Partey all to start every game. Saka probably won't start but should get plenty of minutes off the bench as he's tended to be the first sub Southgate goes too. Ramsdale making up the numbers. Unsure on the Brazilians. Jesus probably to get some time off the bench, Martinelli may not get much if any.

Turner is the US number 1 so presumably will play at least all 3 games so that extra matchplay should benefit us if we need to call upon him too.

Lot of talk that Saliba is pencilled in to start for France.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Jesus force his way in either.
