Dybala is not overrated. He struggled playing second fiddle to Ronaldo but has had seasons where he was fucking phenomenal - 15/16 and 17/18 come to mind. He'd take them up a level if he plays to his maximum potential and is more of a sure thing than Pepe.
That aside, it's more what the signing would represent. Spurs being able to attract one of the most famous, marketable players in the world whilst he's at his peak would be a major step in the right direction for them. It would mark their place in world football as a serious club. Even when we were struggling we had the pull for guys like Ozil and Auba - a mark of my place at the top of the footballing tree. These were the sort of deals we couldn't see Spurs doing but if they pull Dybala off it's evidence that they have not only matched us on the pitch but off it as well.
