That is a reason from the club's point of view but a striker with his talent looks at it from the selfish angle and as he already has the trophies, he is not going to to be happy doing workhorse duties for CRonaldo (see Benzema) when entering his prime.

I’d spend next season reading all the books in my backlog. Just finishing up Bad Blood, really good. But it would be biblically unnatural to subject oneself to a season where Spurs finishing ahead was a certainty.

Poch is definitely a massive factor, but they spend money much more wisely than we do. I still maintain that we have a lot of value in the squad. The problem is that we have spent it in an illogical manner, so the sum is less than the parts. And neither Wenger nor Emery can do much about that

I didn't. It seemed a good fit from the moment I heard it. Ndombele doesn't have the profile for Real Madrid or Barcelona, Liverpool and City didn't need him. Juventus was my one hope but Rabiot and, the already acquired, Ramsey on free transfers put an end to that.

That's why it pisses me off so much because I think there's a genuine chance we could have got him this summer. The fee wasn't beyond us and Tottenham are not a team we have no chance of competing with in terms of selling ourselves.

It's a shame I won't get to watch him now and will be hoping he flops horribly in his career, but it is what it is.

(I only just managed to stop myself from saying something ACL related to his future. I'm trying not to be that nuts when it comes to players and teams I don't like anymore though!) 😆

His AC can get fucked up beyond repair for all I care. So much that he'll drive around in a hot car and be really annoyed with it.

I think this is fair. The way the pieces fell this summer, they had a free run. The Pogba and Neymar situations have also just frozen the market a bit, really giving Spurs breathing room. If we had money and a recruiting strategy, we could’ve competed.
