He's about as dirty as they come. Just horrible. I'll genuinely be worried for our players when we play Villa next season. That said, he's also 6'5", fast and athletic, and is only 26. He's going to be a good Premier League defender for tbe next few years, in my opinion.

We aren’t interested in premier players. We’ve decided that’s not our brand. It’s sad to see. Playing in a premium arena, charging premium prices but doing budget things.

The club have been ridiculed for daring to bid for Zaha below his supposed value, imagine the field day the press would have if they found out we lodged a bid for De Ligt.

De Ligt is obviously a battle we have zero hope of winning at this juncture. At least we have been proactive in moving for Saliba. Who knows how could he could be at this point? Lot of people seem to think he's in De Ligt's class.

This is a guy who's been fought over by the likes of PSG, Barca, Juve etc and has snubbed United. The idea that we even have a slither of a chance is a bigger fantasy than GoT.

Ricky, I agree we would stand no chance in the De Ligt battle. I’m just trying to imagine a world where we made slightly different decisions in the last 3-4 years, putting ourselves in a position to be signing a De Ligt or an Ndombele. We are a case study in mismanagement

Well, you know I agree with that entirely, but that doesn't change the fact that the people running the club now are hamstrung by the decisions of previous management and have no choice but to pursue a different profile of player to the De Ligts and Ndombeles of this world.

If we can bid for Zaha this summer we could have bid for Ndombele too if we wanted to. What it comes down to is priorities from the club. They value our current midfielders higher than we do.

Personally I would have taken Ndombele over Zaha every day of the week, and that's without even knowing how much money I'd be able to raise for additional signings from selling players (Xhaka, Chambers, etc). But there you go.

Even then, given the situation we are now in, I think we aren’t making the right decisions. We are going to regret not selling Lacazette this summer in a few years time. The rationale is we should have just about enough to sneak into 4th. Maybe we do, maybe we don’t. But at the end of next year, we will have our 2 most valuable assets one year closer to retirement. Sokratis will leave for free. And we will have no other mid career expendable high value items. As risky as it is, this is the time to strike

Or maybe they sounded it out and were told Ndombele didn't want to come here under any circumstances. From what I've read he could have had his pick of top tier clubs (and Spurs).

Zaha's opportunities and motives are very different.
