Agree. Like Maguire but think he is not an elite CB to go for that kind of money. United seem to be taking a longer term approach on players with PL experience but for a change ones with plenty of years ahead of them. A good strategy for them but should give us a great opportunity of nabbing a top 4 spot next season.

I personally think Maguire will be recognised as a very good player the moment he plays with better players in a better team. Similar, perhaps, to someone like Zaha even. Similar to Premier League players Liverpool have signed.

I think he is a very good player, but very much a complementary one rather than the rock you build your defence round. To pay £70m + for that means you have a lot of money to splash which they do. The real gain for them will come if they can pair him up with a really competent more athletic CB partner.

Maguire, Lindelof and Wan-Bissaka is 3/4 of a great defence. You could count De Gea too unless he has another season like the last one, but it seems unlikely. I agree with Ricky, I think it would put United's defence up there with City's and Liverpool's, whereas they were even worse than us last year. It's great improvement on paper, even if they've paid through their collective nose for it.

Speaking of other clubs, Sp*rs have been busy. Jack Clarke, Ndombele and AS has them having agreed a loan deal for Ceballos.

It's not even the price, I just plain don't rate Maguire, he's a basic defender. People said the same thing about Lukaku being 'an improvement' and therefore being a great signing. That's not how football works.

Ceballos is exactly the player we should be going for on loan. Would hate it if Spurs get him. Spurs will look great on paper , they will get rid of Sissoko and possibly a big money sale of Eriksen and replacing them with Ndombele and Ceballos would be excellent

Thats an Everton level defence not one that could concede just 23 or so goals in a season behind an attacking team. You're massively overrating Lindelof and Maguire there.

Ndombele done. £55+10m is actually the best deal of the summer. Especially if they keep Eriksen or get an equivalent.
Wish we had the leeway to do just one deal like this.

They will only sell Zaha as a favour to him.

Eriksen has requested a move and they are not going to risk running down his contract.
Ndombele not considering us is one of the costs of our collapse in the last 5 games of the Prem last season.
Manu are suffering the same fate but they are willing to spend the stupid money required to get tier 1 Europa targets.

Incline to agree - if anything I'd actually say Luke Shaw is their most promising player in that back line. If he stays fit and works on his potential, obviously.

Ndombles been great this season but we'll see. Ndomble in and Eriksson out still means Spurs midfield is weaker. I'd be absolutely shocked if he had a van Dijk level impact.

The worst part is that he is the exactly the player they've needed since Moussa Dembele got old and past it.

It’s only a Van Dijk scenario if Eriksen stays.
After Pochettino got a taste of the final, I’m sure he will want to push for the title. There aren’t real rumors around Eriksen. He seems a low priority for Real Madrid where Zidane is focused on Pogba.

I’d be fine with this move if we were hoovering up the next generation like Barella, Pellegrini , Ceballos, Ndicka.
