Jones knows his place in the food chain. and so does his team.
If they are optimising their model, they'll have another two hot strikers ready to sell within 2 years. That's what the best teams at that layer of the food chain do consistently. Aulas is the master of this. It's all about inventory turns. The other guys who do this well are the two Redbull teams. It's fascinating how different teams adjust to the new reality of football and optimise their business models to outcompete their peers.

That's what worries me about Arsenal. We are stuck in the middle of the strategy frontier. We don't do anything particularly well from a football operations standpoint. You can clearly see how teams are outperforming us in different areas.

Was reading this and thinking these Spanish clubs are really superb at doing this transfer game. Seem to buy alot of players and expensive price but also sold plenty with good price. Really smart albeit some dodgy suspicions

Clrnc, don't respect anything those 2 clubs are doing commercially. They have completely lopsided commercial deals because they do not believe in a rising tide lifting all ships in La Liga. And then they have shady dealings on their properties, and the government either turning a blind eye or funding them. Plus all that debt. Let's not mention briefcases being kicked under the table outside the purview of FFP.

i assume that a lot of it has to do with the club to club relationship. it seems we did alienate a number of clubs during wenger's tenue. for instance, aulas from lyon hated wenger and that is why we could never buy any of their players. there is no way they would ever play nice with us, or if they wanted any of our players, pay us top fees. likewise, we tried to nickel and dime countless clubs during wenger's reign, and i have to imagine that operating that way is off putting to other clubs, and they arent willing to pay us top dollar for our players. compare it to clubs like liverpool that seem to pay sticker price every time, maybe that is why teams are willing to pay more for their overpriced crap.

i dont know. whatever it is, it sucks.
