I wouldn't mind Napoli or Villarreal from that bunch. I think the Italians are in for a really shit season ending personally. I wouldn't be surprised if Milan manage to edge past them in the Serie A table.

I'd avoid Frankfurt and Chelsea like the plague.

I think Ramsey was superb tonight.

Another Iwobi-less start, another great first half.

Good professional game all around. Aubameyang and Ramsey were great. Good game by Kola, too.

Mustafi could have ruined it for us, but luck was on our side.

This would be a decent side if we could sort out our away form. Same as last year, really. It is reassuring, however, that even if our plans don't always pan out, we seem to approach each game with a plan.

Iwobi looked good when he came on. As did Mkhitaryan. What I liked about our approach tonight and in other recent games was our clear intent early on to take the game to them.

The one concern was that from half time to about the 65th minute, it was all Rennes. And it wasn’t even us controlling their movement around the park. They were controlling possession, just failing to fashion chances. The subs were exactly right as they allowed us to start linking up better. Aubameyang, Ramsey, fullbacks played well. I

I think the game plan was more or less the same as v MU = score first then let them have possession and play on the counter. Both MU and Rennes dominated possession in the 2nd half but at the end of the day neither created or scored despite their possession, and we did.

Thought Rambo was very good from CM again & the performances in the last 2 games are what I've been wanting from him for years ever since he came back from his leg break.
Also a shout out to AM-N for picking up where he left off v MU, whilst both Mkhi & Iwobi were also very good in taking the game and ball away to break up any momentum Rennes had.

Most of it in between getting the kids ready for school and then doing the school drop off.
Probably missed the last 5-10 mins in the 1st half and maybe half of the 2nd half.

I realise that both Rennes and MU perhaps 'dominated' the 2nd half of each match, but for mind it was ineffective possession much like we have had over much of the past decade, and I don't think Rennes created much in the way of quality goal scoring opportunities. I know they hit the post but for mind the shot took a deflection off our defender towards the post and I thought Cech had it covered had it not been for the deflection.

Bottom line I was more confident we'd score a 3rd rather than Rennes getting on the score sheet.

i thought ramsey and xhaka struggled after our opening salvo. that formation does have flaws. as soon as a few attacking mids came on, we were able to stabilise and get the 3rd goal. mkhi has been a very calming presence during those spells when the team is incapable of trapping or passing the ball to a teammate

The comment was made in the 2nd half that we had struggled to maintain control in midfield after Rambo's knocks in both the 1st and 2nd half, and shortly after we made the subs to go to a 3421 to bring in 2 fresh players and extra numbers into midfield before Rambo was the last player subbed off.
Tactically it's an ideal & subtle option without needing to bring on defensive players or change the configuration to cause too much disruption.

Kolasanic's cross was just beautiful. Such a beautiful ball to play over to a striker.

Thought Ozil was pretty poor, rest of the team did their duty or more.

Kolasinac is amazing. Possibly my favorite Arsenal player atm.

Yeah I have so much time for Kolasinac. He switches off defensive against small teams sometimes but in important matches he is always impressive.

Honestly think to get the best out of our 2 strikers with Ozil behind 352 is the formation to go. Brings the best out of our FBs too.

I agree with that. 3-5-2 is the way to go for us. Let's bring in 2 good CBs in the summer and a backup striker.

Didn't watch the game, but my friend told me we were pretty lucky and that Rennes had several shots that hit the post and that they were one on one with the GK at least once. Only watched our goals, but anyway, luck is fine with me.
