This is the issue I have with him, looks like he should be on the Spanish love island not the premiership. His body language was awful when he came on.

Oh great another player who's going to be mainly judged by his hair cut.

He lacked energy and showed no character. When he came on it he was playing like it was the fifth min of the game, he showed a lack of drive and urgency.

Anyway, let’s see how he does when he has settled in a bit more, don’t have great hopes for him though.

Sicario.
The new guy as well?
You are torching almost every player.
In the other thread you said do not start Lich, Auba, Iwobi, Xhaka, Ozil, Maitland-Niles in away games even when we have several first-teamers out.

I think it's been a long day and suggest you get some sleep.

No character 😆 What did you expect him to do?

In many ways I suspect that this is the first signing we can claim to be an Emery player, and it will be very interesting to see how things develop for player, team and manager.
Suarez' success or lack thereof may have an impact in terms of future funding for similar 'Emery targets'.

What? A loanee who has been playing Copa del Rey games is going to be how we measure Emery’s eye for talent?

Not off the bat but we should have some ideas by the end of the season.

Isn't he only an Emery player in the sense of "Mr. Emery, what player would you like? Your budget is £0"?

Yes, he is.

However, I agree with Anzac in the sense that there were numerous options out there for that same £0 budget and this was the one he chose, or that we were able to pull off.

I can’t answer that - I’m flobaba not Raul Sanllehi. But I would find it very hard to believe there was no one else.

Well, it's certainly fair to say that there was no one who was immediately and obviously available considering this was one of the most subdued Jan transfer windows that I can remember.

So if the club operates that way I would be very disappointed. It would essentially be a Kim Kallstrom signing - let’s just bring in a warm body, any warm body and hope for the best. And then, play this random warm body over Mesut Ozil... I don’t think that is the case. At least I would very much hope it isn’t.

It's just a transfer being made for a half decent player while we're operating under fairly strict parameters i.e. the whole option to buy clause. I wouldn't be disappointed by the signing since he does have some upside if he's able to adapt quickly but I doubt the club would sign him if we had £30m-£40m to burn. Which is what you really need for a halfway decent attacking player these days.

Emery apparently personally sanctioned this signing though, based on his past relationship with the player. We can’t just discount that.

Does that really mean much to you? Doesn't to me. I'm sure Emery is keen to work with a player he has an existing relationship with but - as I say - given the parameters he was working under, he was probably the best amongst Perisic, Carrasco and Nkunku.

He did. But to suggest that there was healthy choice is not fair.
The only advanced discussions that we are aware of is are two very tough negotiations for Carrasco and Perisic. Again other players like Nkunku at PSG were named, but there monetary restrictions connected to him. Suarez at 2m pounds til May sounded the simplest deal.

Put it this way, if he was a shit player with a shit attitude when he worked with him previously why would he be willing to work with him again just because he is available? In my mind, the manager must think he will be able to provide us, at the very least, with Iwobi level performances on a consistent basis. If not, what’s the point? Like I said I would be very disappointed if it’s a signing of convenience rather than an objective assessment of his ability. Of course, ideally, it could be both.

Edit: I only used Iwobi as an example because he is at the moment the low limit of what I expect from an Arsenal quality starting winger.

And yes, it does kinda matter if Unai Emery personally sanctions a signing in the context of what we are discussing here, i.e. an “Emery player”...

But it was widely accepted that those names were going to offer us a significant improvement on what we have already. Why should that not be the case with Suarez? And I disagree with your final statement - the deal was not simple at all from all reports leading up to it.
