That doesn't mean that things would be worse holistically. If Moyes were manager then at least we wouldn't have to deal with horrible hipster fans wanking over his tactics. The fact that Unai Emery is a terrible football manager is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the unpleasantness of having Unai Emery as manager. Funny enough my last post got be racking my brain as to who in the world of football would I possibly find less enjoyable as manager than Unai Emery. The only name I could possibly come up with was Thierry Henry.

"Horrible hipster fans wanking over his tactics" has nothing to do with Emery as manager, or with the "holistic" picture of the club at this moment. Unless you want to draw every entangled atom of the league into the question.

Here are some other managerial regulars I'd far rather not have: Allardyce, Mark Hughes, Roy Hodgson, Benitez. But even further than that, our next appointment following Emery, regardless of who he is, will be highly unlikely to offer further optimism than our current league position allows. The squad needs work.

I don't have any issues with Emery losing patience with Özil or with Ramsey not being re-signed. I just hope both move to the exit door so we can reallocate their wages to effective, lower maintenance players. Prima donna behaviour is only for those who can sing like Callas. At the moment we've got Dannii Minogue and Ginger Spice on the books.

Now really is the time to get behind this manager.

I suspect that with some of the issues we forget that we have a new structure and that the buck no longer stops with an omnipresent manager with total control.
I also think that we are expecting too much of the new structure to have put things to right, and I think we will still yet experience some more unravelling before we settle as a club.

I think one of the things we are struggling with as a club is to establish an identity as to what we now represent. If many saw us as being a 'French' club under AW, it seems that we may now be set to resemble a 'Spanish' club under Sanllehi & Emery, particularly following the departure of Mislintat. That's not necessarily a bad thing when we see the influence and impact of the likes of Guardiola, but it could well be a long and painful journey without genuine investment.

In the mind of the anti-Emery brigade the current position can all be slated back to the manager, despite the CEO jumping ship, obvious conflicts behind the scenes, and gaping holes in the squad.

I'm surprised we are within spitting distance of the top four at the moment. If last season's Wenger was in charge right now we'd be in mid table hearing about the state of the opposition's pitches and the position of our handbrake.

We're absolutely in need of a new covenant and a new source of stability and direction behind the scenes. I absolutely hope that any further changes to the senior staff, including if Emery is replaced, happen in an orderly manner.

I take Gazza's point in the other thread about overbearing negativity though. I couldn't stand it when Biggus and Anzac were threadshitting every week though and I'm genuinely very sorry if anyone feels that's how things are going. When you're here to discuss Arsenal and your feelings about the club are negative that's usually how the discourse end up. I click on any given thread nowadays and I see the same deflections of blame onto everyone else; past management, shareholders, marginalised players, and so forth, in an attempt to liberate Emery from any responsibility for the poverty football he's been serving up.

In short, this is like the last two seasons to me, but I feel additionally robbed of the few things I still enjoyed. I'm not going to apologise for feeling that way, but if I'm ruining it for others then maybe it's better that I left.

Yeah but surely you can appreciate that the other side feels the exact same way?

I think the only thing everyone can and should agree on is Mirths post the other day that everyone is a bit on edge in recent months. To calm things down I suggest temporarily banning any opposition supporting potential troublemakers, they should be easily discernible by their avatars.

Your last paragraph rings true. 2 of the most exciting/creative players at the club are being wilfuly sidelined, and i understand that being annoying. I just think its too early to to rule out something exciting emerging in their place, even it takes short term pain to get there. Again, I'm taking an optimistic stance here until thoroughly proven otherwise, which i don't think has happened yet

Sometimes really good players do not make a coach's plans. Give Isco a phone call. He can tell you about a couple of coaches who have frustrated him.
But we also need to be aware that there could be different things happening with each player. For example, maybe Ramsey is getting limited minutes that allow him to recover and he is being deployed in very specific high energy attacking roles; while Ozil is being frozen out for contracting reasons. In the absence of a tell-all, we don't know. We just need to trust the manager

I'm very skeptical of Emery or at least some of his decisions thus far. I'm keeping an open mind because we may be a long way away from seeing what his final vision is and the results for the most part are pretty much in line with expectations. I actually have a sneaking feeling we'll snatch 4th too, which would be a pretty good achievement. Let's see, but if that is the case it's hard not to give him a fair chance to take us further.

He plays some of the most soul-draining football I've watched, but I have no reason not to trust him so far. We are tracking Chelsea and United, two teams with many of our problems and more resources, so he's not having a failing season.

I'm kinda worried if OGS really have Fergie's special man management skills to bring United up to another level. I was confident they would have been on a very dry spell even if Zidane came in for a few more years.

Weren't we on a 20 game unbeaten streak earlier this season? And didn't Chelsea have a hot start like this before they began entertaining every team? Let's give it another month to play out.

If they get more than 7 points out of 15 from that I'd be impressed. The fixtures that follow (Watford, Wolves, West Ham, Everton and Chelsea) are not particularly easy either.

Exactly how I feel. I just find us horrible to watch and the fact that the club seems to be run by dinosaurs and amateurs adds to the misery. I don't even care that much about the results, I just want someone to commit to an entertaining, attacking game and approach management with modern methods and factual analysis instead of whatever Emery and that Raul fellow are doing.

The club is not run by amateurs. It factually isn't. We went on one of the most impressive recruitment streaks in the last 12 months. You can say we are horrible to watch but don't run a misinformation campaign
