When Jose was on Bein sports they kept asking him questions about his brand of football trying to get at the fact its a difficult watch. Eventually when they asked him want he enjoys most, Jose says a win based on tactics.
For me Emery is simular in that way, he admitted he doesnt work with the players like klopp or wenger does. He has coaches to do that and he's in charge of the systems. The issue that I feel comes out of that is you don't have balance at the top. You have tactics above all else he wants to win every game based on clever tatics. The team is very poor at attacking and terible at defending and it seems all were working on is clever tactis for the next game.
I saw simular at a big club where the assistant manager took over and he got a massive response from the players they loved him. Eventually he was made the permenant manager. He was an ex player and since hanging up his boots had a coaching backround in strength and conditioning. The lads were just flogged to death all preseason, skill and technically they looked awful and results were like watching a car crash. The plan to out condition the oppostion fell to pieces. Becasue it was at the expense of everthing else.
The games not all about tatics it's just about winning, I think whoever is in charge needs to focus on the defense, and getting more out of the attack and build a more cohesive midfield.
