If we end up getting back into the CL with an uncreative brand of football does that matter?

I don't agree with Klaus, but of course it does. Unless entertaining means nothing to you when watching football.

Well I didn't say not entertaining, some people find entertainment in wing play, beating teams, winning etc.

Been reading complaints about employing the wings all these months. What exactly is the problem with it? Aesthetics? Or something else?

When Klaus asked for more creative football I just assumed that he meant more creative football without beating teams/winning less.

Wing play isn’t the issue, it’s the overeliance on it. Bit like how playing just through the centre doesn’t work either. We were great against Bournemouth largely because we utilised both areas to expose their dire defence. Emery’s challenge is to use the wings to bring more out of the likes of Ozil and Ramsey rather than isolate them.

IMO we've done well in both times I've seen us use twin CAMs = v Fulham and Bournemouth.
My issue with the wide play has been the lack of penetration/threat from the WFs & their inability to beat their FB or to provide a threat on goal. IMO we've become too reliant on the overlapping run to provide the attacking threat, whereas with the likes of MC it's a case of if the WF doesn't do you then the FB will.

Impressed with how the squad has rallied in recent weeks. I had a gnawing feeling we'd just drift into the end of the season wenger style, but it looks like squad is prepared to give it a good push

I don't think I can recall him trying to go outside his FB at all yesterday - he kept checking his forward run in the final 3rd and then coming infield.
The only time I recall him getting in behind was when working the overlap with Rambo. He's better when the ball is played behind the FB as he doesn't really have a choice, however every time he comes inside without the FB overlapping then all he's doing is making us narrow and failing to turn the defence.

I've read comments about his defensive effort but for mind it was more a case of the opposition being held up long enough for him to get back, rather than him busting a gut to get back in the first place, whereas Mkhi was getting back to provide the 1st line of defence in our defensive 3rd.

I can recall him going out side Trippier at least once. And its not something I was even taking not of.

I think he may have done it on the counter as such when Trippier was supporting the attack, but I don't remember him doing so when we've brought the ball forward as part of our build-up into the final 3rd. There were a couple of times he seemed to try to do so when he was combining with Rambo in the 1st half but not on his own.

These last four games, the manager has really done his work. He’s served up very different teams, for fkr each opponent and on each occasion the team has performed well. He should’ve earned a 4th straight win versus Spurs but was let down by his strikers and Mustafi at key moments. Real breath of fresh air from previous manager in terms of preparation. We gave Spurs lots of useless possession and neutralized Eriksen. Reminds me of how we took Jorginho out of the game. Looking forward to the United remedy for Pogba.

I imagine that for Rennes, he will revert to a 4231 with Ozil and Aubameyang. Would be good to see Suarez get time off the bench at some point as well.

Just thinking about it too. He has massive balls to drop Torreira, Kolasinac, Auba and Ozil, 3 of which was absolutely pivotal to our 4-2 win earlier in the season. Changed a totally different system again and we dominated Spurs, should have won easily on another day.

He really isn't scared of ego or reputation.

Counter argument is if he was brave, he would had played them and we could've won 4-2 or lost 4-2.

Only works if the FB is up in support other wise it just allows the defence to compress.

Don't get me wrong he's not bad, just predictable.
