Denis Suarez
Let’s do it.
We have a glaring creativity problem. Our left wing doesn’t work. And we are struggling to link midfield to attack, particularly with someone who can carry the ball and run at defenders quickly, destabilizing them. This guy will help us address these issues.
He is technically superior to the French AMs we have been linked to recently, which is great for improving our build-up play. The one drawback is he has never been a massive scorer, so we will need to fashion a system that fits two scorers, e.g., put him at LWF, and Laca / Aubameyang alternating the other two forward spots. I would then tinker with the midfield and put two holding mids (Xhaka/Torreira) with one AM (Ozil or Iwobi). That would give us better flow.
Everything about this guy suggests he is not a winger.
You want a winger? Then let’s buy a proper one, and stop putting players in positions they are not comfortable in.
If he can ghost past players in the middle of the park, then Aubameyang and Lacazette should be pleased as they can get a run on their markers.
We do need players with quicker feet in the middle of the park, let us see what Suarez can bring to the table.
Yeah hopefully he isn't our "winger" if we do get him.

Well, quite - does Emery want a winger?
At the moment the width seem to be coming from our fullbacks anyway so Suarez would likely take up Iwobi or Mkhi's position on the pitch. I'm not saying that the system makes sense but within that context this signing makes sense.
I’m pretty sure we’ll eventually bring in a speedy wide man. Mislintat has form with those
Suarez will be Emery’s answer to Silva and Mata in his Valencia day’s and Banega his Sevilla days

I’m not against the signing, on the contrary I think we need more technical players, and he may give us a better balance in the middle. A combo of Suarez, Guendouzi, and Torreira would be quite interesting moving forward, with Suarez being the more attacking of the trio.
All I’m saying is that Suarez should not be considered at all for the wings. We need proper wingers.
Right now we do not seem to know what formation or shape we want. Hopefully moving forward we play a proper three in midfield, with wingers and a striker.
Hopefully this is the Ramsey replacement and not our new winger. Seems like it could be a bargain though.
He typically plays as an inside left, not a number 10. Do we play with Torreira as an inside right and Xhaka at the base if you see him as a Ramsey replacement? Or do we just put him at the top on the left?
From his Youtube highlights looks like a poor man's Cazorla.
Is he more likely to take Iwobi or Mkhitaryan's position? Bear in mind Iwobi sucks on the right.
So this guy isn't effective at beating defenders 1v1 and putting a good cross in?
He’s very effective at beating defenders one-on-one. He’s not a traditional English winger. More a better version of Iwobi. Will be dependent on Kola for width
Would be happy with a Nasri with balls.

Nasri had balls to be fair.
The question is, is Suarez a signing for a team looking to get back into the Chanpions League?
Not in terms of creativity bar that purple patch. The number of pointless exchanges between him and Clichy!
Nasri and no spine or balls at all. It was a dam miracle he could get around the pitch. He had a spell for 5 months where he took the initiative to make things happen. And spend the rest of it just being a comfortable passanger with bags of talent. He should have been like Kevin at city.

Who even wants traditional wingers? I'm sure we could get Lennon, Downing and Jesus Navas a few years ago but those types of players are pretty shit.
One could say those 5 months were how long it took for our coaches to wean him off shooting in favour of recycling the ball.
That would not be entirely true, however, as anybody coming in after Hleb would definitely be shooting more.
One of my issues with Nasri is that brainless mentality many wingers have of always trying to dribble to beat their markers when a pass or cross (see Beckham) would help the team more.
e: As for Denis Suarez, nothing special and it feels like we are only interested because Barca want rid.
I would be happier with a loan till the end of the season with an option to buy if he proves his worth.
